More of your nature worshiping theological preaching, using pop-science for your scriptures (could you imagine if a another religious leader came and posted regularly about various scriptures and religious views like you do?), but I'll bite... The universe wasn't created "just right for the emergence of life"... There is no proof for that. Life exists in this universe the way it does

>"I've never posted about this topic before." You're honestly going to say that you've never posted an appeal to authority, excuse me... a statement by a scientist that happens to back up your personal views along with a vague comment along the lines of "Keep looking." You're using the same tactics of any preacher trying to find converts on this site. The only differe

As far as I can tell from the articles on the topics, those activities are still banned, they just don't want the publicity of implicitly stating it. Several teachers told their students that it was now OK to hold hands and even kiss their partners... Only for the leaders to jump in and say, "Who said that? The 'moral code' still exists. We still get to define morality here!" The

Reading other articles posted that I've seen on the topic, BYU has changed nothing but the wording. Students, thinking that they can now hold hands with their partners have been told that the "moral code" still exists. Basically, the church wants to look good, but still have the ability to punish those they disagree with. All they've done is made people confused and upset more.

Can we not keep doing this? The horse is very, very dead. Don't get me wrong. I have no issue with legitimate questioning of the existence of God, what "God" means to people, especially in the context of how people feel while leaving the church. That's one of the reasons why this site exists and there have been many interesting and helpful conversations on this topic over the years

My wife refrigerates avocados all the time. As soon as they are close to being ripe, if she's not planning to use them, in the fridge they go. Never had a problem, and it has kept many an avocado from being thrown out.

I had a bishop when I was growing up. He stated quite clearly from the pulpit during sacrament meeting that he did not love his wife when he married her. She and their kids were sitting in the front row. He went on to explain that the leaders of the church said that returned missionaries should get married as soon as possible when they got home and that it didn't matter if they loved the perso

So, your son claims to be black and now you're claiming to be Asian. Are there any other cultures you'd like to appropriate? You're contradicting yourself anyway... >"...and 4% Asian or Native American, they couldn't tell which at the time, but have since informed me that it's mainly Native American." https://www.exmormon.org/phorum/read.php?2,2284449,2284754#msg-2284754 S

Also to answer the question, "If not, what would you replace that word with on our money, in our pledge of allegiance, as our nation's motto, as the motto of history's most powerful superpower, possessing the world's biggest, most deadly weapons of mass destruction?" I think you need to look at the history of our motto. It was not always, "In God we Trust". Nor was God ment

"Trust In God"... What does that even mean? Trust in God for what exactly? Do such people make a decision and then trust in God that they are right? If so, that's not trust in God, that looking to God for confirmation. As far as anyone has been able to tell, no one has woken up with sudden accurate knowledge of something that they didn't get from another source. People form their own

Keep in mind the email that the OP posted did not come from the church, it came from the website they used to resign. The "resignation ID number" comes from Quit(M)ormon.com, not the church. I'm not completely familiar with the website, but if I remember correctly, it's one that's supposed to "help" with the resignation process. The church does not assign a "resignatio

Why in the world would anyone bow to your demands. 1. You don't control the website here, so no one here has to do what you say. 2. By asking for being banned, you are admitting that you are too immature to simply not come to the website on your own. You do know that's an option, right? or 3. You're hoping that someone actually does ban you, at which point you will run to the library

I hope you know that the list of your perceived "faults" is arbitrary. If you "corrected" every one of them, they would simply add others, or suggest your motivations for change aren

Are you saying that because the author made a point of calling them "white, heterosexual men" that it's tied somehow to the #metoo movement? That's a very big stretch. I have a feeling that you don't understand the #metoo movement.

> "Why would you want to hold your wedding at a place which rejected you?" The problem with this question is that it shifts the problem to the victims. You're basically saying, "Why would they want to be treated like anyone else?" Why shouldn't they want to be treated like everyone else. This is the venue's problem, not the couple's. The same argument has been used in

No, the LDS church is essentially a "club". They do not sell garments to the public at large, they only sell to their members. If wedding cake makers and/or wedding venue locations wanted to openly discriminate, they could easily do so by creating a "club" and only providing services to their membership. They have to prove that it's a specific club, not a general "Chr

"I just want to offer people an alternative" Wait, I thought proselyting on the board wasn't allowed. Do you really think that if you don't constantly post the same name dropping nonsense that no one will know about pantheism? That you are the sole messenger for that belief system? If that's why you keep posting the same repetitive threads, I assure you, you can stop. People know

There are a lot of problems with your question. One, you assume that the heaven you describe is desirable, as others have pointed out, it isn't. An eternity of having everything perfectly supplied would get old quick. Sitting around with nothing to do for eternity sounds incredibly boring. And who wants God as their neighbor? I mean really think about what that would mean. This is the guy who

I went on a mission as a strong true believing member of the church. I was sent to Korea in the early 90's. My mission was a nightmare. Companions, that I had to stay with 24/7 who thought they were God's gift to the country we were in. A native companion who, even though he could speak fluent English, refused to speak English to me to help me understand what was going on and often delighted in m

In the office where I work, there were a group of people talking about this. These were relatively well educated, upper middle-class people who, even in the face of this evidence that vaccinations are important and can save lives, were still spreading the long proven false lies that vaccinations were dangerous and could possibly cause autism. A couple of my coworkers tried to point them in the

While Einstein was a very smart man, this is a false dichotomy. The universe could simply be indifferent, neither friendly nor hostile. It also presupposes that there is intention or some intelligence in the universe as a whole. There is no proof that either exists, which backs up the idea that the universe is as hostile or friendly as a box of rocks, which is to say, neither.

They may still have a file on me, but in that file it specifically states that I am no longer a member of their organization. Anyone who looks me up in their system will see that I chose to leave. People who don't resign don't have that flag in their file. That flag does several things as far as I can tell. Mainly, it has removed me from the "find him and make a project out of him list&qu

Also, resurrected threads tend to be resurrected by "drive-by" chance encounters. For example, a TBM is searching for something for a talk and on of our posts come up in their search results. The TBM unknowingly clicks the link and after reading a bit discovers where they are and posts something, usually unhelpful or rule breaking. This brings the thead to the top of the list again, eve

Sadly, this could have been a conversation with my mother. My brother was dating a Latina Woman. When talking to my mother about it, she said, "He's dating one of those Mexican women" with just a touch of disdain. My mother is typically a very nice person and you'd never know she harbors these views generally speaking. It was somewhat shocking for me to hear this from her. Later,

When I was in High School a mixed race couple moved in down the street... This was in the south in a very conservative area and it was very much frowned upon, but I didn't really know that at the time. I'll never forget riding with my Dad to the grocery store or something and him telling me, with all certainty, that people would be happier if they married within their race. Later when I though
