Want to share this to give hope/perspective to those that may be facing a similar situation: I left the board about 6 months ago to focus on other things. Back story: Left church in 2012, divorce finalized last Fall. Ex-DW wanted to "find a good Mormon man". Well, mission accomplished. A mere 5 weeks after the divorce was finalized, she was engaged to her "good Mormon man

It took me about 2 1/2 years to make it through these phases as I got out of the church and recovered. For those of you going through it yourself, perhaps this will help you on your journey. What you go through and how long it takes will surely vary from my experience. All I can say, is it does end and life does get better. Here are the stages I experienced: 1. Curiosity. What is this sit

Coffee - start with a mocha frap, later try a vanilla latte, experiment with the Starbucks menu. Alcohol - avoid hard liquor initially, have a corona or blonde ale That's my two cents.

I would argue that the goal of this movie is not necessarily to make a profit at all. Sure, they would like to cover their production costs. The main purpose of this movie is inoculation of the membership. This movie helps them retain membership and tithing revenue. That's the REAL money maker. The church brand has been suffering and that can wear on the members morale. This movie is u

This is fascinating! Thank you so much for sharing. There is a direct mention of the LDS church... "On the low end of spectrum, out of every $100 that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) receives, only 70 cents reaches the poor and needy."

I live in Seattle and just finished getting divorced last month. My lawyer does a one hour free consultation. If you want to email or talk to me more, I would be glad to help. My profile has my email address listed.

Highlights of my summer, courtesy of "God's True Church" : July - My oldest child gets married in the Draper Temple. Of course, I can't see her get married. Neither can her two siblings. I did manage to take a stylish picture of a shunned drink with the temple in the background. https://app.box.com/s/evgj8ws9fbzxlqr4wqw3 August - After posting a link to the CES Letter on my ow

Boyd K Packer's birthday is September 10th. He will turn 90. What are some gifts you would like to see him get? I will start off with a couple: "Little Factory" book - http://www.amazon.com/Little-Factory-Sarah-Weeks/dp/0060274298/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1410018083&sr=8-3&keywords=little+factory+book "There was a little man who ran a little factory. I had this a few times. Very painful. Each time, the doctor prescribed an antibiotic. It fixed it the first time and appeared to fix it the second time but it came back a couple months later and antibiotics no longer helped. After several more doctor appointments, I was diagnosed with a varicocele. For me, it was excess veins just below my waist and to the left, not on genitals. The blood

I'm at 14 months and waiting. I understand the various emotions you are going through. I went through that too and thought I was going insane, only to find out it is normal. So keep that in mind and let yourself process through the emotions. Something I found helpful in trying to process through the emotions and assess what went wrong in the marriage so I could at least learn from it and re

Sorry you have to deal with this, very extreme. Stick to your authenticate self. Finding his blob was easy. I posted the following in the comments section and got the message "Your comment will be visible after approval." So he's controlling what gets seen. Regardless, here's what I posted.... I went through this earlier this month. What you're experiencing is normal for the situation. I experienced the same feelings of anxiety (what are people going to say? how will they treat me? do I even want to go?) and depression. My advice is to come up with a plan that you are comfortable with and take some of the control back. You don't get a say about where they are getting married or

Same thing happened to my son a few years ago. Every meal was 90-100% carbs and he is also an athlete. I snuck a huge burger, fries, and Coke to him from a hole in the wall restaurant about 5 miles down the road from camp. Also brought several bags of beef jerky for he and his friends.

Thank you for all the helpful comments and advice, very appreciated. I sent him my response today and will return and report with what I hear back. In the meantime, it's off to Utah to see my oldest daughter get married on Tuesday. It's a temple wedding and of course I can't go in and watch my own daughter get married. I will find a Starbucks to sit it out at because I refuse to sit in t

So I can't stand that the church lies and lies and gets away with it and that people waste their time and money being used by this organization. I enjoy my ex-mo freedom and wanted to let others know what I researched and discovered. So I posted the CES Letter on my Facebook last weekend with the hope of getting out the truth to those of my friends on Facebook that are LDS. I provided a link t

Within two weeks of my moving out, my ex was telling the kids, "when I get re-married, it will be to a good Mormon man". Unbelievable.

The quote from the church spokesman is so ironically delicious..."the church has to protect the integrity of its doctrine as well as other members from being misled.". Hahaha!!

How about this stumper I've used on LDS... "If God is all knowing and all powerful, can he create a rock so heavy he can't lift it?" If he's all knowing he can create any size rock he wants. If he's all powerful, he should be able to lift any size rock. Catch-22. I was told that a question like this is sacrilegious. Whatever.

Had a Father's Day with my kids that I will remember for a long time - hiking, eating burgers, going to a reptile zoo and holding a snake. Great kids. We all had a great day.

"his mom told me that I wasn't ready/ prepared spiritually" Yep, same line I was fed. Spent over 20 years feeling not good enough. It was always me. I wasn't doing the right things, wasn't spiritual, should be paying a full tithe, should be attending all my meetings, doing 100% home teaching, on and on and on. Low and behold....it was not me! It was my discerning the lies and
