To all 15 seers; You claim to believe in the seer stone and claim to be a seer. Have you tried to use it and failed? If not, which part of the claim don't you believe?

Not about the way I acted. I am ashamed to have believed what I did. It is so plainly idiotic, I have a hard time dealing with the fact that I really believed it. Very embarrassing.

My kids frequently mention their gratitude. It has really been quite hard on them all, but they are very grateful, as is my wife. It is the thing I take the most pride in, out of anything in my life. It is very satisfying to know that none of my kids or future descendants will get caught up in it. It has been very traumatic on those of us who's lives were built around it. But, thin

What is the difference between a cult and a religion? In a cult, there is a person at the top who knows it is a scam. In a religion, that person is dead. To a great degree they all believe. They all misleed to some degree, but believe it on some level. Lying is for the Lord, and for your best good. They believe that if you knew the whole truth, you might loose your belief, and they truly bel

I hope he requests that the brethren consult Joseph Smith's peep stone (that they are known to have.) I say you are not out until God speaks through the magic rock.

LDS are only the largest of many Churches that believe in the Book of Mormon. Ask them what happens when someone who is investigating one of those other Churches prays to know if the book is true?

Actually yes. You can count on the Church always coming in on the right side of social/ moral issues... After they hold out as long as possible.

You are right. I have also found that when you put someone's name on the temple roll, your results are proportional to the number of times you put their name in. (kind of like stuffing the ballot or raffle box.) When I used to go to the temple with my wife, she would have me to write our son's name on the prayer roll. I never used to get any results with only one entry. After I started puttin

He may well know everything, but we pray to get him to change his mind. Prayer is a self centered, egotistical request that God suspend the natural laws of the universe in our favor. It is an opportunity to point out to the omniscient ruler of the universe that he should alter his otherwise perfect plans to better accommodate our personal interests. While believing that he does indeed know

When I was 15 my Uncle was bishop of our ward. My friend in the same ward was dating his daughter/my cousin Debbie. My Uncle was interviewing my friend to become a Priest and asked him; "Do you have a problem with masturbation?" My friend told him... "No problem at all, Debbie does it for me."

One can only guess what is going on in his mind, and to what extent he thinks this all out. He seems to be someplace between actually believing it fully and being willing to come right out and deny it. It would raise a lot of questions that he is trying to avoid if he were to ask that his previous statements be amended. Just like many of us went through a phase of letting people believe we were

anonow; It's not 5 years, it is since TSM quit bearing strong testimony in General Conference of unique Mormon claims... 2005 You should read the actual essay; http://www.scribd.com/doc/159313089/Monson-s-Refusal-to-Testify Unless you spend the time to follow along and understand what TruthIsReason is saying, the quotes like those you gave, seem to stand for more than they actually do.

One of the reasons givien for dismissal was that there was not evidence to tie Monson personally and directly to Church teachings which are factually untrue. This, along with the recent insightful analysis by TruthIsReason, could have a greater impact than non dismissal of the case might have had. A TBM testimony is immune to just about every conceivable assault. However, the fact that Mons

On my mission in Southern California in the late 70's, I was out with a Stake Missionary and we were trying to commit a man to baptism who was close, but for quite some time had been hung up on tithing. Commitment to tithing was absolutely a requirement for baptism. The Stake Mish I was with pipes up with; "Don't get hung up about tithing, I have been a member for 5 years and haven't paid a

Knowing that God exists is important because it just feels good to know that the creator of the Universe shares your personal views and agenda. It is comforting to know that the ruler over everything just happens to share your concerns, interests, and agendas. It's great having an invisible friend who monitors your every move and suspends the natural laws on your behalf when you need it. A ma

What an idiotic work around. Space on the plates is precious. Nephites must write in reformed Egyptian to save space. They mention that the scripture would have been more accurate if only they had the space to write in Hebrew. Unfortunately, there is not enough space for Hebrew writing. ( BTY Hebrew actually takes LESS space than Egyptian) God knows evil men are going to try to steal the f
