the difference between the sports illustrated cover and a nude beach is that at the nude beach you are going to see regular people with regular bodies. SI is going to show women with bodies that only a very small percentage of women have. It is no wonder that we have so many girls with eating disorders. We need more women like those lds women who posed nude to show what real women look like. th

as an exmormon woman, i really love this song, especially the part about the fear not controlling me and the perfect girl is gone. now that i have left the mormon church, i don't have to be perfect anymore. it makes me happy seeing my kids sing this.

I got my SL Trib today and looked for the Monson article. It is on the utah section at the very bottom with no picture or mention of fraud in the title. It is as buried as you can get while also making the front page of a section. Also it is written by a woman who is basically a church apologist. The only thing I can think is that Church PR people must how found a way to pressure the trib. Ste

their behavior is pretty disgusting, however all they are going to accomplish with this is show everyone how bigoted the mormon church really is. I personally think that justice is going to prevail. the church is going to end up losing members and new converts, on top of looking really stupid.

my inlaws did this too. got my kids 12 presents for every day until christmas. and it is all dollar store crap that breaks in five minutes and makes the kids cry or i have to take it away because it involves markers, or it is sticky candy. one more thing to make the holidays stressful. not to mention the fact that the 12 days of christmas does not in fact start until christmas, and goes to ep

This isn't just "popular mormon belief". This is what is taught in the doctrine and covenants, I remember reading it. Unfortunately i can't remember which section it is in.

This makes me afraid of what will happen after we all die. Our mormon relatives will get us all rebaptized and make it so our brave decision to leave never happened according to the church. Its like spitting on a person's grave.

I am sorry about that. Mormons whine about people persecuting them all the time. I remember it was especially bad during last year's election. They don't see how hypocritical it is since they badmouth catholics and or christians all the time.

Very true, but i think that this exchange just proves that they are bothered by these things. Otherwise, there is no reason not to talk about these issues openly. Tbms want us to shut up and go away, that is why they say they don't care.

This came up on another thread, that tbms are now saying they know about polyandry, boa, etc and it doesn't bother them so exmos should just shut up about it already. I had a funny fb exchange with a tbm who made this claim. It started with a family member posting about js marriages to underage girls. Tbm gets on and says that it may surprise you (family member), but most mormons know about th

Very true when i was young, maybe around 9 or 10, I remember finding inconsistencies in the bom and what i was taught on sunday at church. Little kids are smart.

Its very interesting that when Joseph Smith prays, he only asks about christian churches. He doesn't pray to ask if Islam or Judaism, or Buddhism is true. They are automatically discluded.

I agree with presbyterian. Mil should be confronted, but i don't think that will fix the issue. She will simply go behind your back and possibly swear the kids to secrecy about what is going on. Mormons do not respect boundaries, period. Dont let your kids go over unsupervised. Its not worth the free babysitting.

This will be held up as a faith promoting story and give all those mormons hope that even people who resign will come back. Not good.

I am sorry. This has got to be devastating to have your child leave and then rejoin. It makes me wonder why she resigned the first time. Is she possibly going back for social reasons?

I like idea number 4. Its possible she regrets her behavior and wants to make peace. If she treats you badly on this visit you can always say not to future visits.

In laws do not talk about religion to my face, but from what i understand they talk about me behind my back. There is a consensus between them and dh that he needs to be the example in the family (apparently to make up for evil mom).

Ok, so we had a second conversation about this after we had a little time to cool down. Dh says that over time he has come to the conclusion that there probably is no god or an afterlife, but he doesn't want to tell his parents. Fine, all the more reason not to take them to the mormon church since neither one of us believes. I still was upset over their interference. I told him what if our kid

Stumbling yes it is their fault. They raised him in a church that brainwashed into blindly submitting to authority. They are at fault for raising him to be this way. No matterI what you or anyone else may say, it is not easy to break free from that kind of programming. It takes time. And he didn't do such a bad job, it could gone a lot worse than it did. It could have ended with him promising

Last year i did a post on my inlaws wanting to take my kids to church. Th quick version is they talked to dh without me present and it was agreed they would take my kids to church once a month. It took a few months, but with support from people here i confronted dh and got him to agree not to have them go. My inlaws went out of town for several months at that point and we never got to talk to

Yes, get rid of it or do a thorough search. Our family got a tablet as a christmas from an inactive family member. My tbm inlaws got to it first and downloaded their mormon scriptures onto it. Mormons will stoop to all kinds of dishonest behavior to indoctrinate people.

Handing out pro truth literature to people coming by my house does enforce no. How many people are going to come back and keep bugging us if we turn around and use their own tricks against them. Its a good solution.
