Take some time over the next few weeks and list the things that make you you. Your successes, your accomplishments, your hobbies, things you've done for friends, relatives and especially for those you didn't know, things only you know about. Just remember that they brought you up the way you turned out. You can take care of yourself, think for yourself, you've made mistakes and learned from them. You are a success in your life choices. They should be proud of the caring, loving, understanding and intelligent person they created.

One of my first encounters with this phenomenon was when I was working in Wyoming and we needed to rent a portable generator. After we got done with the generator and returned it to the owner, he said he'd send the bill to our office. When we got back to the office we reported to the boss, who was TBM, what had transpired and about the bill. The first thing out of his mouth was " Oh gr

A little O/T, but I recently read an article about the military when designing the cock-pits of fighter jets when they were just coming into existence. They took measurements of all their pilots, height, weight, span, lengths of ankle to knee, knee to hip, arm lengths, reach, etc. etc. Everything you could think of. Then they averaged the results and designed the cock-pits to these measure

I've been a follower of Robert Kirby for several years and almost always find his column enlightening and entertaining. The one theme I see in his writing is his practice of 'free-agency'. He takes the facts and situations in his life, applies his morals and ethics and then acts. He is one that has figured out who he is and how he fits into this world. He knows he doesn't know everything

My view of this general thread is about communications especially with older people. My Mom when in her 90's had all kinds of excuses for doing something or not doing something. I lived 1500 miles away and would visit for a week or two, 2-3 times a year. I'd call 1-2 times a month. She'd complain about never having anyone visit or call. When I'd remind her that I was just there, she'

If you're dead serious about rejoining the cult, move to a new city, preferably out of state. Once settled in, somehow wrangle a visit from the missionaries. Don't give them your real name or your church history. Take the lessons and get baptized. You might need to make up a plausible family history, but those are some of the messy details that you need to get together.

Growing up as Catholic, there was the Legion of Decency. Not that could afford to go movies at an early age, but you didn't dare saying anything positive about a "C" rated movie. "C" was the condemned movies. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Legion_of_Decency

Rationalization in any and all forms trumps all rules and regulations. It is especially effective when taken with a good dose of denial.

My catholic teaching from the late 50's-early 60's was that sex was for procreation only, it was not for pleasure. That sure wasn't topic for family discussion at dinner time.

Plan out your trip carefully. Lots of good suggestions have been presented. Map out all the locations suggested and try to concentrate on places close together. If you try to take in all the places suggested there is a lot of driving involved. Traffic in Washington from Olympia north thru Tacoma, Seattle and Everett is horrendous except late at night. A trip out to coast and the Olympi

Anon For This --- Your experience sounds very similar to an episode of "That 70's Show" season 3, episode 19 "Eric's Naughty No-no" saw it on reruns last week. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0720081/?ref_=ttep_ep19 Eric and his buddies went to a porn show and got some ideas. Not sure what Eric tried on Donna, but she didn't like it.

I seen several pictures of the SLC temple and it looks like the upper center window is covered with a sheet of plywood. Is this really the case, or is there some other reason for the way the window looks? http://www.ldschurchtemples.com/saltlake/

This is a little off topic but still a math situation. Up here in Western WA when Boeing machinists were on strike, a reporter stated that the employees had lost 10% of their income. Then stated that it was worse if a family had two people working at Boeing then they had lost 20% of their income. In an email fight with the reporter, I tried to explain that the 2 employee family still lost

I've gotten calls from various people/organizations requesting info on how to get in touch with one of our kids that have long flew the coup. I ask who is calling, what they want and a call back number. Then I tell the caller that I'd pass the info on to one they want to contact. If they want to talk, they had what they needed to call back.

The Washington state legislature is debating the transgender situation. The Human Rights Commission recently issued a policy that the transgender can use the restroom and/or dressing room of gender they most identify no matter what stage of sex change they are at. A male going to woman but still has all his junk can use the woman's dressing room down at the YMCA. More than a few people can se
