Today my friend showed me that our coworker's daughter is on Tinder. Both the coworker and her daughter are ultra-LDS (to the point of the coworker being a temple worker). My first thought was that she should be on LDS singles.com and not an app known for hookups.

Several years ago a neighbor of mine, a woman in her mid-forties, had a wonderful little girl who was about the age of four when we moved into the area. There was no father in sight. When I asked my neighbor if her daughter often visited her father (I assumed it was a divorce situation), she explained that she had had this child on her own via a sperm bank. When the little girl was about si

If children are involved it's much more important to try to work it out. If there are no children, I'd run for the hills and try to find happiness elsewhere. With kids, it's complicated. Best of luck!

It's amazing what some people will do to gain a little attention.

This is a battle I don't think you will win (gaining access). If the system isn't set up to have non-member logins, it won't be easy to change, most likely. Just figure your kid is getting his daily dose of brain washing and move on. Good luck!

LDS Missionaries should stay out of countries where they are clearly not wanted and are in danger. It's foolish for them to continue to try to spread their message in such areas.

Wow. Friend B sounds like an immature nightmare. Better to not be friends with that person at all.

My ex-husband is bipolar and I simply could not live with him. We have a daughter together and he was verbally and emotionally abusive to her last summer, when she was seven years old. I didn't know about it at the time, but apparently he was also suicidal. I procured a police report that states some officers has to basically break into his apartment to make sure he was ok. They found him nak

What about the commandment of the Lord "Thou Shalt Not Kill"? That's the commandment that was broken, by the shooter. Self-righteousness is one of ugliest aspects of Mormonism.

I work for a school district in Salt Lake. I have an elementary-aged daughter and I pay a lot for her to attend a private school because I know that the schools here suck. Since I'm in IT I regularly help teachers with their computers. It makes me want to gag when they put a family picture in front of the temple as their desktop image. And I find a lot of non-work-related files on their sys

Three words that go together: Word of Wisdom. I absolutely did not like the Word of Wisdom. It never made any sense to me. While the missionaries were courting my (now ex) husband and me, a lot of the discussion centered around the WoW. Finally my husband forbade me from bringing it up. It was a no-win situation. Glad I finally got a divorce from both my husband and the church. :)

This is to dogzilla: Whoa! Seems like a sensitive topic. Encouraging someone to get healthy and fit is not shaming them.

I'd toss the invite in the trash. Sounds like they are just grubbing for gifts and cash, no matter how far removed you might be from the bride and groom.

Awesome . . . just awesome! I hope I get to use that question some day. Of course TBMs probably give a lame answer about it being a celestial marriage only (no s e x). But what do they know? And even then, why should Joe get lots of spiritual wives, anyway? Jerks! ;)

I was on Zoloft as a teenager, many years ago. Made me feel like a zombie. I didn't like it at all.

When people get down on you, remind them of the LDS Church's 11th Article of Faith. You have the right to worship (or not) according to the dictates of your own conscience. It's pretty sad that your family chooses to believe in a church started by a skirt-chasing conman. You should feel proud of yourself for leaving behind the ruse. Best of luck.

I like Uchtdorf. He does seem to understand women better than the other apostles. Plus, he looks like a handsome game show host. ;)

Seems like part of leaving the Church is leaving behind the option of entering the temple. You may just have to own up to not being a card-carrying member any longer.

When I was about eight years old a pair of sister missionaries approached me while I was outside the house, playing on the stilts that my father had recently made for me. They asked a bunch of questions about if I had any siblings and if I ever babysat at home, alone. At one point the sister missionaries tried my stilts and the heavyset one broke off a piece of the wood. That made me so ma

I would dread it, too. But at least he's a boy and won't be a second-class citizen in the LDS Church like girls are. He will be able to move up the ranks and get the priesthood and all. Woohoo. I explained to my young daughter that she won't ever be able to do any of the things the boys do in church, even if she's baptized. I also gave her an age-appropriate talk about how Joseph Smith

Man buns are hideous! I love it when guys have short, spiky hair. Most men don't look that great with long hair. A few can pull it off, maybe.

From what I understand Chick-Fil-A is quite generous with donating and supporting local causes. I work for a school district and a few weeks ago they brought over breakfast foods. Just because they have a moral compass doesn't make them bad. Geeeeesh. Liberals can eat somewhere else. ;)

I think the original poster has some intriguing and interesting ideas. Temples do seem like places of evil. Not sure why the group is coming down on him or her so hard. :P

I don't think so. Is that what you think? It seems like this affects a very small percentage of the population and yet there's a ton of coverage about it.

At least there are a few believers (Christians) on this board. I'm part of an ex-Relief Society Sisters group on FB and those ladies are full of venom when it comes to virtually anything related to Christianity. And if you don't agree 100% with them, they gang up and come down on you hard.

I wonder if things really are getting more extreme and bizarre, or if it's just that the internet, and social media in particular, are making it so that we hear about a lot more that was likely already taking place previously.
