A couple or years or so ago I did freelance writing -- mainly SEO articles and other web content. I found jobs on Elance and oDesk. I think the two combined and then were bought out or something. Now it's called Upwork. Good luck!

One idea I've been vaguely toying with is that of God evolving. What if he started out as a child, kind of like us? He angrily destroyed his creation during outbursts of emotion and reached out to us in various ways through the ages, attempting to bridge some sort of gap...? I don't know. Just a thought.

I love attending Calvary Chapel SLC once in awhile. The pastor, Terry Long, has tattoos and rides a Harley. The service is just over and hour long and I get to wear jeans -- which is great. Plus, they have a band that plays some rockin' Christian music. I was never a temple-worthy Mormon and when I attended the LDS Church wearing a sleeveless dress, people treated me (especially men) like I

If I had the guts, and was crass enough, I'd like to say to a TBM, "Didn't Joseph Smith f--- 14-year-olds? And you're somehow okay with that?"

I understand that the LDS Church teaches its members to obey the law of the land. However, the founder of the LDS Church, Joseph Smith, did not follow the law of the land. Wasn't he convicted of fraud? And didn't he unlawfully marry women who were already married?

I was born and raised in Salt Lake and I've been a believer (a Christian) for about twenty years. During my marriage to a controlling husband I briefly became LDS. I didn't bother to become temple worthy and never really bought ol' Joe's tale. I officialliy resigned about a year and half ago. So I'm back to being what I would call a "non-denominational Christian." I occassional

Recently I went hiking up in the mountains in Draper. I parked in the parking lot of the Draper temple and walked to the trailhead. I felt a very dark, creepy vibe coming from the temple itself. It didn't feel like a beacon of hope or goodness at all.

I could never be a good LDS woman. I like tank tops, short shorts in the summer, have a small tattoo of a Jesus fish on my shoulder, and sometimes say the "F" word. Oh, and I love Tupac. I was only LDS for a few years, after being pressured into getting baptized by my (now ex) husband. I was never "temple worthy" and had no desire to become so. Now I'm resigned and ba

I would say HECK NO. My daughter will be turning 8 soon and I will absolutely NOT ALLOW her to baptized into a cult. Stand up for your family and your daughter. Explain to her that if she wants to get baptized, she is able to do so an adult. That's my opinion.

I love it when I tell them that Joseph Smith was a fraud and I don't believe in the Book of Mormon. But then they want to know if I can direct them to someone who wants to hear their message?! Um, no. No, NO, NO!!!

It's really too bad that the LDS Church won't admit to how many people are leaving / resigning. I'd love to know the count!

I was only LDS for a short while and was never temple worthy. When I was baptized at age 32 I felt like I had finally joined some secret club that I had been outside of my entire life. I quickly realized that I wasn't really "in" -- I'd need to go to the temple to really be part of the group. I've seen the temple ceremony online and it looks pretty freaky. Those outfits are out

If the Bishop is a dentist by profession, I don't see why anyone would go to him for financial advice. It would make sense to see someone who works within the financial sector / industry for help with finances.

Regarding alcohol being sold in grocery stores is Utah -- only some beer and malt beverages (low alcohol content) are sold in grocery stories. Wine is not sold in grocery stores. You have to go to the state-operated liquor store to get higher alcohol content beer, all wine, and all hard liquor.

I was only LDS for a short while and didn't attend Fast and Testimony meeting very often. But a few times I did see little children giving the "I know this church is true... I know Joseph Smith was a prophet of God" spiel. Everyone seemed to love it and think it was precious. I thought it was freaky and weird. It's indoctrination and cult-mentality. The LDS Church is very, ver

In my view Mormons are not Christians because they don't believe they are saved solely by faith in Christ. Instead, they rely on secret handshakes, names, ordinances, good works, etc. Plus, the version of Jesus they believe in is a brother to Satan. Weird? I think so!

Very creepy that you would not be allowed to sit in on a meeting with your children. I think you are wise to not allow it -- who knows what sort of awful things the bishop might threaten your children with? I'm currently getting a divorce and my daughter will be turning 8 later this year. My ex explained how he was "trying to hold the priesthood" so that he could baptize her when sh

If the church disavows one thing today, who is to say it won't disavow another thing tomorrow? And how can the Book of Mormon be the most correct of any book on Earth if parts of it are being disavowed? The next time I get approached by a missionary I'll be sure to ask.

I was a non-denominational Christian before I was basically co-erced into joining the LDS Church. I never really believed in Joseph Smith or had a testimony of the Book of Mormon. After three years of being "Mormon" (not active at all, not believing the crazy doctrines) I decided I'd like to officially go back to being non-denominational Christian. I sent the letter to have my
