I think everyone has an "I got smashed on jaeger and couldnt touch it for awhile" story. It can mess you up cause it tastes good AND it's strong.

Whoa dude, chill. As one poster said, they are adults. Just as I believe it's no good to go proselytize for a religion, I believe the same about doing it against one. I really have learned that people believe what they feel most comfortable with. That's why so many stay in Mormonism and don't want to know the the truth.

Yeah I changed my screen name for a post and can't change it back, so that's how I end my posts.

That's awesome! I'm relatively new here. I can't figure out how to change my screen name back to peterlynch but I ended up here because I wanted to post my exit story. It was a sort of therapy. Anyway, tonight I'm feeling pretty awful and experiencing some rather new feelings of betrayal and hurt. It's a hard road. How old were you when you left? Did you already have kids etc?

I had one cool companion. Just one. We were pretty good friends after the mish. Then he didn't invite me to his wedding (probably because it wasn't in the temple and he was embarrassed). I judged him and got pissed about it and we pretty much stopped being friends. I need to call him. Man I was an asshole as a TBM.

I'm sure this has been discussed, but does anyone know of any get together type situations in the area? It gets lonely sometimes just reading things from my imaginary internet friends. peterlynch

I'm pretty much where you're at. I haven't told anyone who isn't staunchly non-believing, and I keep a tight lid on my situation, pretending everything is normal. Well, it is more normal now I guess, ha! My mother would be crushed and would probably cry herself to sleep for weeks, maybe months. One thing I've learned so far; what you do with your life is your business. there's this thing called b

Peterlynch here. Changed my screen name and can't change it back. Today I was sitting on a park bench near my apartment. It just so happened to be around 11 when (I believe) the ward the I would be in, if I were a Mo, starts. Ironically, I was talking to my exmo dad about exmo stuff and watching all the people I would have wanted to get to know six months ago file past. Life on the outside is goo

Life after can be tough. I wish so much that I hadn't wasted so much energy and developed so many unhealthy attitudes with church nonsense. But I did. I second final frontier. Don't regret your decisions. There is nothing to be gained. You learned, now move on. If you dwell, your feelings of sadness will only grow. I only really found out the church was hogwash a couple months ago. It is still re

I want to know more about this. He is my freaking relative (none of that once removed stuff). Does anyone have more information? What did he say to the press, how did he explain instances of his sperm when there weren't anonymous donors etc, etc...

Mind blown. This guy is an uncle of mine through marriage. I had even heard the story a couple months ago. The guy who told me referred to him as "The Father of Many Nations". I hadn't connected the dots. Holy flaming balls of shit.

Another idea, try buying flavored brews and making them at home with some cream and sugar. Invest in a good coffee maker. I get ground gourmet beans at a place called Juice and Java here in Utah. If you make it yourself, it saves you a LOT of money. Plus, you can make it stronger or milder. Also, stay away from darker roasts. Stick with the lighter stuff and you'll be fine.

It seems fairly clear to me that her's is a simple case of compartmentalization. She has one section of her brain for her christian belief system, and the rest of it (at least the logical part) for everything else. Pretty much what Mormons do. But it is strange when someone can break free from this problem with Mormonism, but continues with Christianity.

It is so nice to receive honest opinions here. Not the sugar coated kind you get from TBMs.

What I find hard to understand is once people learn to use their critical thinking skills to uncover the truth about Mormonism, some end up believing in another brand of magic (i.e. speaking in tongues etc...) Maybe the speaking in tongues I saw was fake, but I think it's all fake. Most of us are turned off to traditional belief systems because all of them have a form of manipulation built in and

I feel you there. My mother has made her life miserable indeed because of her stubborn refusal to bend and just follows blindly.

Exactly the problem. there is no rationality behind this teaching, not to mention it is extremely dangerous. "Go kill that women, she adulter-ered". I better do as the bishop says, either way I'll be blessed... Lunacy I tell you. Sheer lunacy.

That was one of the main motivators behind my desertion as well. Truth must withstand scrutiny, or it's not truth. If Mormonism is true, why can't we investigate as members?

I disagree with anyone who acts as if they know. As a couple others have mentioned, it is what you want it to be. Don't fall back into the trap of thinking there is always one right answer. If you were just polling to find out opinions, man I feel like a horse's ass...

Yeah, exactly like that. Or Bishops intrusively asking sexually explicit questions to young children in private?
