I don't cheat other people of their hard-earned money and brainwash people. I do understand what you mean, though.

Babyloncansuckit, I am glad I helped you in that way. It is no one's fault that they were born into it and it is all that they know. We need to respond with patience and have a soft landing spot for our Mormon friends to fall upon when they are ready to leave their comfort zone.

I don't feel the least bit guilty cheating their tithing system for a TR, but I do love the people. Just not the church.

I read that members can get a missionary name tag made if they volunteer as ward missionaries. I am assuming if this is so, they make the name tags from Utah and mail them out. How many ways can one get a missionary name tag?

It's funny you made a thread on this because the first thing that came to mind about attending my reunion are who died and who is in prison.

Hello, mica. Have you and your husband got work to save some money aside? Start networking and see if you can find work that way. Your number one goal right now is to establish financial independence. As with church, when you move, don't give your address to them. Once you are settled, you can submit a resignation letter to have your name removed from the church records.

When they were investigating the TX FLDS ranch, what happened to the children there? From what I remember, they were returned to their families. Can someone help me out with what happened when the federal government raided it?

I have read articles about African-Americans who are members of the LD$ church knowing the past history in which African-American males could not hold the priesthood. I even watched a Youtube video of two African-American men who are members having a conversation with a camera guy about it. There is an African-American man in the family ward I am at who has been a member of TSCC for about 14 y

Oh, I figured out how to cheat the tithing system in that one thread where pooped shared his funny exit story. badassadam, have you thought about moving away? You should get rid of anything Mormon in your home. It's a good way to move past something and it'll help you to stop thinking about it.

badassadam, it was all you knew growing up. I wouldn't be surprised if you're from Utah or an area that is highly populated w/Mormons. It's different for everyone, but you are at the right place since it sounds like you need people who can relate to you and some encouragement as you move forward and start a new life out of the LD$ church. It's funny, I was just thinking about you. I'm going th

It's not worth it. Once you leave it behind, it no longer has anything to do with your new life. Being angry means you're giving your power away. It channels too much energy you could otherwise invest elsewhere, like enjoying new experiences and pleasures. Don't water a plant that is already dead. Your garden will never grow unless you pluck out the weeds first.

I should have been a little more clear before because I was trying to communicate what Amyjo just said. mkgmt17, I know you are coming from the right place, but this is your DH's grandchildren and your DH is coming from the right place. I understand the conflicts and issues with TSCC, but this isn't really about that. It's about ensuring stability for his grandchildren and keeping things together

First off, you're not in the position to huff and puff about it. You don't have a whole of power here given this is your husband's family.

Top leaders act like the church isn't true. I was talking about this with Grant Palmer and he met with a GA and his wife and neither one of them believe the LD$ church is true. When the GA is around leaders of LD$ Inc. doing church work and all, they don't behave as if it's true. They're talking about other non-church things like basketball. If anything, they're acting like puppets and keeping th

They probably want you to identify because the church to them is something they are proud of. Aside from that, they probably want to re-activate you.

It depends on where you live in Utah. SLC is only 30 percent Mormon and there are neighborhoods in SLC that are very open-minded. Where in Utah are you?

You mentioned your wife is a cultural Mormon. I guess this makes it easier given her life is not revolved around the cultural and religious aspects of the LD$ church. You haven't done anything wrong. You're just making connections and questioning. How does your wife feel about it? That's the most important thing because you guys are a team with your parental responsibilities.

I'm not a parent, but why not have a talk with your daughter and tell her that if she has any question regarding sex, she comes to you first and second, at no point is she allowed to have a conversation regarding sex with the bishop or any priesthood holder without parental consent and presence. Having a conversation regarding matters on sex is something she should hear from you foremost.
