My TBM sister sent me this link and had to brag that it was number one of Youtube or something like that. I didn't watch it. I wanted to ask her why all of a sudden Jesus? I only remember lessons on Joseph Smith on Easter.

If it is true, which of course it isn't, wouldn't god be sent to prison for killing his son?

I look at Easter as springtime and new beginnings. Its a good time to start things that you want to grow that you can harvest in the fall.

Has this board gotten so mean-spirited that some posters have lowered to name calling like this?

I just wish that we could all respect one another's beliefs more than we do. Just because some (I was too) were once caught up in dogma called Mormonism, doesn't mean we have the right to judge others so harshly. To me, its all very individual and actually NO ONE really knows for sure.

Going to boring church, family dinner and then doing whatever we wanted. My TBM parents gave up on rules for that day for the most part. However, most people that I know, whether religious or not, keep Sundays as their special day and get most of their errands etc. done on Saturdays so Sunday can be special.

Although I do not believe in dogma and am very doubtful there is any sort of god or afterlife.I do however believe that miracles can happen and that there is an unexplained energy in the world that we can all tap into. Energy never disappears... I also think its all about being positive, looking for the good and being open to wonderful things happening. Conversely, bad things do happen to good

I am in utter shock that we are back to this topic and its 2014, not 1950!

They are in my neighborhood often. They don't knock on every door and are definitely less aggressive than before.

His son said that he was excommunicated last summer because he wanted to be more tolerant. I'm not defending the guy, just reporting what I read.

The judgment here is disappointing. Until you are a widow or widower maybe your opinion should be kept to yourself.

I am a recent widow so I have a voice re widows/widowers... The average widower remarries within a year. This has zero to do with religion.

Being religious has ZERO to do with being a good person. One can have morals and standards without having a church. I felt her post had nothing whatsoever to do with recovering from Mormonism and should have been deleted.

My TBM mom is appalled when I tell her I don't like meat that much and am mostly veggie. When my dear husband was alive (He passed away 11 months ago due to a brain bleed) he had high blood pressure and high cholesterol, she would pooh pooh me for making him healthy meals. Even when I pointed out that meat, sugar etc., wasn’t good for him and that my TBM dad was overweight and had bad heal

I tried to read it when I was 14 but didn't get very far because it was difficult to read and understand -- it was just dumb, boring and made up. My TBM family didn't read it either, nor did any of my TBM friends. We all just went through the motions.

I haven't any quotes to share but do remember being taught this in the 1970s. I was grossed out by it and my MIA teacher told me that men have stronger sex drives than women and that was her reasoning, I guess. Stupid cult.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I KNOW how this feels. My husband suffered a massive brain hemorrhage last March and I had to make the painful decision to take him off life support. I know I did the right thing. Sending you love...

They are doing what most other Christian churches have been doing for over 100 years now, trying to convert them. This is nothing new.

My last boss is a very high level ranking Scientologist and close friends of Tom Cruise. When I interviewed to work for him it came out that I grew up LDS and he perked up when I said it. I'm sure that is why he hired me.

To me, anyone who is extreme is hard to handle. I see no difference in an "in your face christian/mormon" who is shoving thier beliefs down your throat from an "in your face atheist" who is shoving thier beliefs down your throat.

I agree with some of you that say that the church won't recognize this for years to come (maybe decades or longer). Think about it. The civil war was over 100 years ago and they didn't accept African Americans into the priesthood for decades afterwards. I think they will lighten-up their stance in that you can be a member and be accepted (even if married and gay) but you can't get married in

I have no idea if we survive death or not. No one knows. And those that claim they do are just giving you their opinion because no one has come back to tell us. With that said, my dear beloved husband died suddenly less than 6 months ago. He died before his time. Our time together was cut shot and so was his life so for these reasons, I certianly hope there is something more. But I just don't

I have no idea about this and tend to run from conspiracy theories....However, its always been known that secrets are hidden in plain sight. This applies to MANY things...and not just religion etc.

Could it be that in order to question, you need critical thinking skills? I know growing up I always had a “BS” monitor on my head and always seemed to know when something was amiss while my TBM siblings did not, even though they did much better in school than I did. So perhaps it’s not brains that leads one to question but instead someone who doesn’t simply take things at face value
