No, I couldn’t get through the three-hour block then, and I definitely can’t now. Too much being fake, modest, and turning a blind eye to the crap Joseph Smith pulled for my taste. I prefer having Sunday to myself, wearing tank tops and shorts when I want, and living life on my terms.

Does the LDS Church require that both parents consent for getting ordained? Or does that just apply to baptisms? If it applies to getting ordained as well, I'd contact the bishop and let him know you aren't on board.

What a prick and a mama's boy. Good riddance. He'll be miserable in his marriage. And you'll be able to find someone who's a better fit.

I like to believe, especially in Jesus Christ. I’m an educated, reasonable, capable person. And I believe. :D

This site generally picks on Christians. Funny to see the atheists getting it a little this time around!

These cryptic posts crack me up! You see them on FB, too. Real head-scratchers!

Couldn’t agree more! Parents need to quit giving their kids unlimited and unrestricted access to the internet. I work in IT and have a daughter of my own. If kids aren’t on social media they can’t be bullied online or harassed by people hiding behind a screen name.

I was once on a cruise with my coworkers. One night, the entertainment was a comedian who said that Asian men were "hung like grasshoppers." I noticed that one lady and her Asian husband did not smile. How awkward for everyone!

The "Satanists" are really so tiresome with this stuff. They don't even believe in Satan, yet they call themselves Satanists in a blatant attempt to rile people up. It's kind of childish and lame.

You may prefer to just toss it, but others don’t feel that way. Thankfully we can all choose for ourselves.

I agree with Tyler that you aren’t understanding the purpose of the Bible. It’s not meant to scientifically explain everything.

I have enjoyed reading the stories and things from Our Daily Bread. My grandparents used to have them around the house and I'd read them when I visited.

Yeah, that's just disgusting. If you have to ask if that's cheating, your morals are pretty shabby.

I would say something like "according to the dictates of my own conscience, I cannot believe in the LDS Church any longer. Please respect my decision." And then stop talking about it. Don't go to battle about it anymore. Be firm and decisive and end the discussion. Use the same phrase over and over, if necessary.

I think women can definitely tell if the guy they are with has a wandering eye and is the "cheater type." When I'm dating someone, I look for clues that would identify them as potentially being disloyal and steer clear.

Congrats on standing up to them! It sounds like it was painful. But you should be proud of yourself.

I was a Christian before I briefly became Mormon (at the insistence of my husband, now ex-husband), and I am a Christian still. I find the message of Christ to be so much more fulfilling and loving than the legalism involved in Mormonism. I'm non-denominational and don't attend a church. But I do believe the basic Christian message and find hope in it.

If you want forgiveness, I'd look for a Christian church. The LDS Church is not Christian -- it's the brainchild of a horny charlatan.

I agree that it would be best to address the mental health issues. But that's a huge, huge problem and no easy task to undertake. Access to adequate mental health care is hard to come by. The system has failed us so far. The FBI didn't do their job in the case in Florida. The government can't protect us from everything, or even most things.

But if it comes down to it, don't you want one in the event of a mentally unstable person going on a rampage?

Yeah, it would be difficult to carry in a school. I totally agree. I'm thinking hard about if I would even want to. I would have to change the way I dress and be very conscientious. I get that. I may be more interested in having one at home and knowing how to use it. I'm a single mom and want to be able to protect myself and my daughter if an intruder came in with an intent to harm one of u

JW's, in general, are just an odd bunch. Their windowless church buildings always freak me out. Who knows what goes on inside.

I think the main guy looked evil when he was answering Peggy's questions at the press conference. He has an evil gleam in his beady eyes.

Any teacher who wants to get a concealed carry permit (and become proficient in the safe use of handling and carrying a gun) should do so.

Well, I'm one of those people who works in a school. And I'm considering arming myself. I don't want to be a hero of any sort. But if it comes down to it, and someone wants to take my life, I will be glad that I have some means of protecting myself.

Other countries might make it easier for mentally ill people to access the resources they need to get better. I can't say for sure. But guns aren't going anywhere in America. For better or worse they are out of the genie bottle, so to speak, and not going back in!
