Anonymous Today is using the Mormon learned black and white thinking, and painting with a broad brush. In many cases it is business suicide to leave Mormonism. Taking it slow and at your own pace is the best. With time things will become in focus better as how to best handle your disbelief. Everyone is on a different timeline as when it is best to totally leave their culture.

Most Mormon's that I know call it "The Mormon Church" or "LDS", or just plain old "the church".

Because of all the silly posts from apostle quotes and conference related themes on Facebook, it becomes difficult to read without getting a little sick to your stomach. Lately, my Facebook page is almost free of anything Mormon, or political. I learned that by clicking on the three little dots on the top right of a post, you can hide "posts like this". After doing this to a few Mo

It wouldn't work with my wife because she thinks JS is a prophet and he really spoke with god. I'm just her husband who likes women and would lie about it if I was ever unfaithful.

I can picture the "Mormon look" that he must have had, furrowed brow, squinting eyes trying to look so caring, saying how much he cares and loves you. It's part of the Mormon breeding.

That is true, many wards that don't have new housing editions going in are not growing. Also, my kids helped balance the Mormon's in the Boise area, one extremely tbm daughter and one son that resigned. I'm very proud of him.

The church is the same yesterday, today, and forever, meaning, "we always have changed".

For some reason it doesn't bother Mormon's to move away from a belief that becomes ugly, saying it was not doctrine (blacks and priesthood). Then they move forward knowing that "this time" its really god speaking, just like the leadership's gay issue now. As long as leadership keeps changing its spots they keep the doctrine comfortable, and most Mormon's are fine with it. I think it

You have been socialized from day one to believe a certain way. It takes time to change your mindset from what you used to think was normal. The farther away from the church you get, the crazier it looks.

Yesterday I attended the primary program for my grandkids. I hadn't been to a Sacrament meeting in many months, and it was difficult to walk into the church and see so many believing robots. This was in Meridian Idaho. The chapel was overflowing from people leaving the previous Sacrament meeting. We had to get there early to get a seat on the cushioned benches. The chapel was full of white-s

It's all about the near-by outdoor life if you're in Rexburg. There are many hiking trials up in the forest that are very close, Mesa Falls, Moody Creek, great golf courses that are wide open on Sunday. If you stay in town, go up to BYU-I's garden above the stadium. It has beautiful streams, flowers, and pathways through it.

Flip was the word of choice for missionaries back in the early 70's. I can't imagine they haven't moved on to a better word by now.

I bet that part of the rule change is to level the playing field when couples are asking for certain sealers to marry them. Some folksy temple sealers give charming advice that the newly weds love. As the sealers gain a reputation for "giving a good wedding" it puts less articulate sealers being avoided for doing weddings. There are some very popular sealers that are in high demand

Too hot in the summer and not that warm in the winter, I don't get the appeal. They very rarely get snow, but with all the Mormons, coupled with the cold wind and occasional freezing, it's not ideal.

I think that story had nothing to do with Mormonism, and I would probably save priesthood comments for evidence of actual abuse. Although you are correct in your priesthood abuse assessment in general, no one knows that this case was due to priesthood abuse.

My sister has had two lumbar fusions, the first didn't help, the second made it even worse. She had nerve damage in her leg, and constant pain. In doing research on fusions, it seems about 60% have some improvement, 40% do worse after surgery. It is a gamble, but depending on how bad you are, who does your surgery, and your rehab compliance, it all makes a difference. The bottom line: don't

I agree, too many times we try to put Mormonism as the reason for all bad behavior. This had nothing to do with religion.

On another Mormon board a poster said that his wife got a text from someone, and when he went to look at her phone she moved away from him, saying that if he saw the text, he "would be mad". Then she got a phone call and went into the other room to answer it. He went on to say, "Please let her be having an affair and not signing up for a MLM".

I would have loved to be at the exmo meeting in the masonic temple. What a cool experience that would be. You are lucky Beth to live in such a historic place.

About all you can do is let them know that other religions have the same testimonies and "feelings". Since they all have different beliefs then their emotions aren't good indicators of truth. Of course they all think that THEIR feelings are more accurate than the other religions.

Phily is one of my favorite cities to visit because of all the history there. The Mormon Temple ruins the feel in downtown Philadelphia. One of the coolest places to visit is the masonic temple, and you don't need a card to get in, and you can tour it without putting on cult-clothes. http://www.visitphilly.com/history/philadelphia/masonic-temple/ Built in 1873 it is much more impressive th

This relative's mother sent a group text to all of us thanking us for the fasting and prayers that "got her through". I sent a text back saying, "She deserves ALL the credit for passing". Crickets were all that I heard after that.

A relative just passed her board exam for nursing, after failing the first time. Yesterday she passed, and thanked all friends and family for fasting, praying, and the priesthood. She stated that without that she would have never made it. So does that mean that all the people that passed the exam have had God's help? What about the people that failed? Did they not live according to what God

I don't regret it at all, but when I see how many times you ask if you leaving should cause regret, maybe you should take it a little slower on your departure. Once you are sure it's the right thing, you will never second guess yourself. Take your time until the day comes that you aren't wondering if leaving is okay.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, the tbm husband was just checking with your husband to see where you stand. It's totally wrong for him to do not come to you first, but he was testing the temperature of the water. Set the boundaries about religion if they ever bring it up, but if they truly just want to be friends without any other motives, give them a chance for your kids. Some Mormons m

The most telling part is that the church has made this so public. Usually these things are kept quiet and confidential, so the church wanted to go public before he could. The fact that he worked in the historical department has to enter into this in some way.

And why can't Subaru, along with many other auto makes, put a passenger seat that adjusts up, just like the driver seats? Why can't they make them equal? Unless you go to a luxury car, you can not get a passenger seat that raises up, but yet nearly all driver-side seats adjust up. How much more could that cost?
