Yeah, my in laws are always trying to hit me up for free legal advice. It's annoying. My SIL's bishop is a doctor and they are always calling him for stuff. Especially since they don't have insurance. They literally feel entitled to free medical care because the guy is their bishop.

I agree. I remember a couple years ago our SP was very upset at the fact that childbirth numbers had dropped so severely in the past 20 yrs and that if any of the men had a vasectomies, they needed to see the bishop immediately to start the repentance process (while holding up the CHI). My husband and I got up and walked out. It was awesome.

That's pretty much every Mormon I know my age. No one really believes it but they go along to get along. I'm so glad I don't have that family pressure (although my in laws think I'm literally the devil).

Yes. Lots just going through the motions. It's family tradition. The most kids mormons my age have are 4, Our stake had to reorganize because 2 wards dissolved, which says a lot given this is AZ and we have new temples? I noticed a new co-worker of mine was drinking a large soda at our 8am meeting. So I asked him, are you LDS? And I swear he was like a deer in the headlights. His face turned

Right? No TBM would read that. I always refer TBMs to mormon think and gentle awakenings. Under the Banner of Heaven is infamously anti Mormon and a TBM brain just shuts down.

My brother just moved to SLC and is shocked by how aggressive the drivers are there. He said he's been flipped off by a mom with 6 kids in the back seat. Nice.

I get the most random drop off gift from the Mormons. Pretty much the same situation. About 9pm doorbell rings and of course I don't answer it as I'm busy putting kids to bed, cleaning up kitchen, and making lunches for the next day. And I'm pissed anyway someone would show up that late at my house unannounced on a school night. I finally get around to opening the door and it's a jug of cheap

At least she voiced some distress about it! My SIL is on a mission and everything is WONDERFUL MARVELOUS BLESSINGS. She even got seriously ill out there for awhile and it was such a BLESSING! Ugh really? I hate her emails with a passion. So fake.

To feature a Black bishop, single mothers, interracial cou

I feel that these women do the most harm. It is a lie that a women can be equal and empowered within the church. These so called Mormon feminists are more deluded than your run of the mill Molly Mormon women. In my professional life, I am respected, I deal with complicated situations in which real lives are on the line. I am also respected by my husband in my home and have equal say in everyth

I am in this exact situation. Literally, there is nothing to discuss with my in-laws. Their lives are 100% wrapped up in the church. I would be happy to discuss the kids, but they really don't care what they are doing because it isn't church related. It really is a strain.

NOM isn't imploding. Just a few narcissists making dramatic exits. I personally get annoyed when people do that. I left NOM a few years ago because it no longer was a good fit or served my needs anymore. No dramatic announcement needed.

Correct. It's been re-branded as the Women's meeting and now includes all girls/women age 8 and above.

Correct. My uncle is an ER physician and sees this Ambien scenario often unfortunately.

Wrong. It is absolutely addictive. And dangerous. I have enough experience as a prosecutor with people doing crazy things on Ambien and with family members who have struggled with their addictions to it. Equating Ambien to ice tea and nasal spray is just stupid. You can't kill someone while driving on an over dose of nasal spray or iced tea.

This Women's meeting crap is the church's way of responding to the whole OW fiasco. See, women are totally equal. They have their own meeting so they don't need to attend PH.

Those ladies aren't on Vicodin. With all that you described they are doing, they're on uppers. Most likely Adderrall. You can't function like that on Vicodin.

The drug of choice among the LDS SAHM my age here in AZ is Adderrall hands down. Ambien is very popular too. I had a friend tell me one time all she needs to say is that she's so busy and exhausted with her calling, and kids and hubby and her LDS dr will prescribe it no questions asked. And bonus it totally keeps you skinny! (We are very looks conscious here in the hot desert, especially Mormon l

It is already a reality. I am a criminal prosecutor. CPS will remove will remove a child if their life, safety, health and well-being are at risk in their home. Parents don't get a pass because that risk is religiously based.

Yes. Law school helped me connect the dots. And I'm a prosecutor now so I'm the one who has the burden of proving up what I'm claiming with evidence. Of course my TBM in-laws think education ruined me. I guess I couldn't compartmentalize critical thinking when it came to the church. I know so many smart LDS lawyers who are able to do that and it's baffling to me.

I met Nelson at BYU Hawaii. Even as a TBM I didn't feel super spiritual. In fact I was kinda disappointed. I don't know what I was expecting but I didn't feel anything special. And I remember being sad and disturbed about it.

Christofferson was in the east valley today. 2 apostles in AZ at the same time? Why? Seems weird.
