LOL. I know this seems like a huge huge thing. But take the ward clerk calling and laugh. You will find out a lot of crap you don't want to know, and you can share this info with your wife to convince her of the absurdity of the entire mormon experience. When I was in the bishopric the clerk and I would regularly lament and laugh-so-we-didn't-cry about what people went through to try and be &q

It is obvious. There have been conflicting direction sent out from Salt Lake. Soda was ok, then that was taken down. Joseph Ith papers published with some fanfare, but not incorporated into daily Mormon life. The letters that were published and actively hidden on the church website. And the biggest one, the ever changing rules on how gays and the rest do the alphabet letters are treated. Hink

There were 15 sects that broke off when JS was killed, the biggest ended up not being the one led by smith family. There is a HUGE schism in the church now. The 12 have been fighting over the future of the church bee since Hinkley passed. I think when Nelson brings the hammer down on obeisance and starts excommunicating people for disagreeing with the hardcore doctrine, combined with the current

I think everyone who saw the “covenant path” press conference realizes what is about to happen at chuchco. The pressure to obey and be intolerant will be ratcheted up to levels not seen since TSCC openly opposed the gay marriage amendment in CA. I think the Uch is pissed off. He was making progress and got shut down. Does he have the balls to break Europe off from the church?

Thanks everyone. I am convinced if she had another social circle she was involved with she could let herself quit going without addressing the issues. But I want her to confront and deal withthe fact we were lied to, and find a deeper peace, happiness and self love. Man it’s hard though.

A very interesting development in the years long journey to wife's enlightenment. About 4 years ago DW asked me to stop going to church with her. She did not like how angry it was making me, and how snarky my comments were about everything mormon. We were having a random conversation yesterday and I said how much happier we were since I quit going to church. She informed me we are healthie

Anecdotally,I did it but it wasn't easy. Lots of communication, crying, and hurt. But we had been married over 15 years and had 5 kids.

And if you are not "out" enough to drink openly, exchange the drink for whatever prescription you or your spouse is on to replace drinking :)

conference. Every time they use the phrase "covenant path" when speaking, drink. Based on the number of times I heard it today it must have polled very well. I bet you will be hammered 30 minutes in.

get fucked. Many social Mormons will be driven from the church as the hammer comes down and the church regresses 100 years.

While I am not a fan of lying, I would NOT just announce that you are done one day. I did it. My marriage survived but we have a divided household and my DW has a LOT of resentment because I let my kids make their own decisions. Stop, slow down, and let him take the journey with you. If you have addressed this previously I am sorry but I cannot emphasize enough the need to slowly make them aw

That is hilarious. Hinkley told the whole world TSCC wasn't true on national television multiple times. But no one was listening.

nah, they can keep the priesthood and the direct connection to gawd. Just be more transparent about pay to play. Pay your tithing, say the right things, do the rituals, get to heaven .

LOL More evidence of the lack of giving a fuck by more and more adults to temple wackiness. TSCC knows its ONLY hope right now is to retain more youth and get them hooked. If TSCC wants to see serious growth in US again they need to do this: Two hour block Standardize and simplify repentance, with no public shaming Garments in temple only Temple recommends only questions are:

I the fact my DW now thinks she wants to be cremated a sign that she is freeing her mind from the double bind? That is a pretty bold decision for a TBM.

Most truth is subjective. Especially historical truth. Our minds are incredibly adept at staying sane, even if it means it represses, misremembers, and creates memories out of thin air. Our ability to shape our own reality is why we are the apex predator of this lovely blue sphere. Everything you know is a lie, and only believe half of what you see and none of what you hear.

Since I do not know the dynamic of the relationship with your husband I cannot definitively say one way or the other whether to tell him. A big question is does "J" know about "K" now? But your initial reaction to the gift is all the answer you need. You were not subconsciously "looking", you were not attempting to create sexual tension. You should have no guilt w

BIC's for sure. 3rd and 4th gen even worse. TSCC is incredibly damaging to children. Adults can believe whatever wacky shit they want but to expect an 8 year old to express informed consent is wackadoo. In fact DW and I had this argument when my kids wanted to stop going to church. Her philosophy was they don't know what they want yet. I asked her why we asked them at 8 to get baptiz

"We miss you" falls into three catagories: 1: They are assigned to bring you back to the fold because you have been selected in a Presidency meeting to be a project 2: It is a counting month that determines next years budget 3: They actually miss you.

Both of those studies were inconclusive despite the positive headline. In fact, family support was the greatest single impact. And in the 2014 study by the AFSP sponsored by The Williams Institute suicide rates actually INCREASE among transgender/transsexual who are "out". Finally 43% of all adolescents diagnosed with gender dysmorphia grow out of it (or grow into their biologica

LOL. People like me? Who am I exactly? Am I cis? bi? tri? gay? trans? A jewish boy who identifies as an asian girl but only is attracted to toasters? Can you tell with less than 200 words? But you are right. it was an unintentional hi-jack. The answer to the OP is there is no such thing as sin. Just like there should be no such thing as a "protected class". Back to t

Did anyone ever ask all the other letters if they wanted to be included? If you take identity groupthink to its ultimate and inevitable conclusion, you have a fascist society that controls you by how you identify. A business owner can refuse the right to serve anyone, for any reason(or at least they should be able to). I have turned many assholes away in businesses I have run, how long

LOL at this whole thread. Trump changed the nomenclature back from National Monument to National Park. Constitutionally, there is not a single line about stealing State Lands. The 1906 Antiquities Act was simply a way for Presidents to secure their legacy and steal more states rights. To claim more than 2 million acres as a "monument" is absurd. It always has been.

Don't know why I am feeling prolific today. My DW and I have been married over 20 years. You can look up my old posts if you are interested in the history, I just want to explain the title. We live in the Dallas metro area where thousands of mormons are moving from further west. This has created a mormon "bubble" where it appears the church is still growing. Because my DW is still

FTR, I wasn't really trying to cause confusion about the acronym. Rather, I was hoping to cause self reflection into what drives us to make the thousands of decisions we make every day, and how much effort we put into presenting a face to the world that is acceptable to a standard that is completely arbitrary. The teaching of this behavior from a young age is why, proportionally, there ar
