My son was at a youth fireside in the DFW area a couple of weeks ago and said holland was creepy and made him mad.

I have been saying for years the church is cash poor. Many of their for profit businesses lose money, in fact I would not be surprised if they were as leveraged as the government. Two hour blocks make it less intrusive into members lives as well. Same reason subscription services are so profitable. As long as it is only a little annoying people will be to lazy to endure the pain of change.

Gordon was thoughtful. His time was over. After 40 years of guiding the church, he knew he had done some good. Even after the Hoffman forgeries had confirmed what he had already suspected for years as a special 3rd councilor in the first presidency. He and Tom had discussed it, afterword. It was tough to agree to continue to perpetrate one of the biggest lies ever told, but the church did so

Off the top of my head and the most glaring, when asked the question “Are you a prophet?” He answered... “The people sustain me as one.” The second, which he said many times... Paraphrasing - The church rises and falls on Jospeh Smith, he was either a prophet or the greatest fraud ever perpetuated on mankind... It’s like looking at one of those pictures that can be a youn

...internal battle that was going on in the 12. They are ramping up the control. It is only going to get more fun to watch. This also gave me a moment of great clarity. I have talked about this before, but Hinkley told everyone that the TSCC was bullshit. He said it in public, in his writings, to anyone who was listening. In fact, In another two generations he will be credited with the ini

So DW is getting more disillusioned with the church by the day, and if the next bishop is who I hope it is, she will quit going. But here is where I need help. I need a place to socialize that both of us are invested in. A different church is a no go, and we don’t have that many shared interests. Living in a major metro I know there is something, I just need to find it. For those of you

My brother and i were having a discussion about this yesterday. He believes that sometimes the holy ghost(derp) just decides not to provide the confirmation of the spirit.

To keep it from escalating it is all in the setup. Remember, mormons are mormons because of how it makes them feel, not about logic. I asked my dad this series of questions: Do you believe in personal revelation about your own life? Do you believe that God cannot lie to your heart? Do you have faith that any person can find the truth through fasting and prayer? Once he has answered

I'm glad they all don't mention where I am headed in a few years( I am over DFW as well). The best place to live in the entire US.

I didn't take her with me when I left. I wish I had. Why don't you believe? Why is it not for you? And can you play the game? Lie to those who are your friends and loved ones to live up to an expectation that is impossible? Talk to your wife. Take her down your path. It is about the family unit. She may want you to lie. The pride tied up in priesthood holders by women is retarded. T

Doesn't matter whose idea it was. Whether his or yours, it put you in charge of and responsible for for his actions. That changes the dynamic of the relationship and puts you in an unequal position.

Jews don’t recognize Jesus. Catholics don’t recognize divorce. What do Mormons not recognize? A: Each other in the liquor store.

It is a simple philosophy. If it feels good, its OK as long as your actions do no harm to others.

The minute you "put parental controls" on your home you ended your marriage and became his caretaker. I suspect you were celebrating 39 years of dysfunction. Good luck with whatever happens, but understand the level of co-dependence that you probably have on each other is going to make you accept things you shouldn't and him to do things he otherwise wouldn't. It will also make yo

One final note. The by-the-book-conservatives just took over the presidency. There will be some backlash on many of the more liberally minded members over the next 2-3 years. Duck and cover. Lie like your degree depends on it.

You misunderstand. I do not promote outing people's issues. I promote exposing the ugly underbelly of the church. And the lengths good people go to maintain hope that the church can deliver the fiction of an "eternal family". And expose how her bishop set her against her him by using emotional blackmail and creating FUD.

LOL. I know this seems like a huge huge thing. But take the ward clerk calling and laugh. You will find out a lot of crap you don't want to know, and you can share this info with your wife to convince her of the absurdity of the entire mormon experience. When I was in the bishopric the clerk and I would regularly lament and laugh-so-we-didn't-cry about what people went through to try and be &q

It is obvious. There have been conflicting direction sent out from Salt Lake. Soda was ok, then that was taken down. Joseph Ith papers published with some fanfare, but not incorporated into daily Mormon life. The letters that were published and actively hidden on the church website. And the biggest one, the ever changing rules on how gays and the rest do the alphabet letters are treated. Hink

There were 15 sects that broke off when JS was killed, the biggest ended up not being the one led by smith family. There is a HUGE schism in the church now. The 12 have been fighting over the future of the church bee since Hinkley passed. I think when Nelson brings the hammer down on obeisance and starts excommunicating people for disagreeing with the hardcore doctrine, combined with the current

I think everyone who saw the “covenant path” press conference realizes what is about to happen at chuchco. The pressure to obey and be intolerant will be ratcheted up to levels not seen since TSCC openly opposed the gay marriage amendment in CA. I think the Uch is pissed off. He was making progress and got shut down. Does he have the balls to break Europe off from the church?

Thanks everyone. I am convinced if she had another social circle she was involved with she could let herself quit going without addressing the issues. But I want her to confront and deal withthe fact we were lied to, and find a deeper peace, happiness and self love. Man it’s hard though.

A very interesting development in the years long journey to wife's enlightenment. About 4 years ago DW asked me to stop going to church with her. She did not like how angry it was making me, and how snarky my comments were about everything mormon. We were having a random conversation yesterday and I said how much happier we were since I quit going to church. She informed me we are healthie
