Haha exactly. They know that the fact that the word Mormon is now a bad word is going to cause a frenzy...I don't think a 10-day social media fast is long enough! LOL

There are way too many historical sites named after Mormons/Mormonism. Are they going to rename all of those?? I live in California near Mormon Emigrant Trail, and a place called Mormon Island (the site sits under Folsom Lake and remnants can be seen when the lake is really low). There are several streets around here with the name Mormon in them as well. The MORMONS around here are proud of their

Wow I didn't know that it was instructed of WOMEN ONLY. WTF... The 3 women that I saw post something about it didn't mention that it was for women only. And of course they have to announce to the world on social media that they will be fasting from social media...LOL They were also challenged to read the BOM by the end of the year. It's all about control and keeping women down.

My TBM neighbor has 7 kids. I am also one of 7, so I can relate. One time my husband found their 1 year old out in the street wearing only a diaper...frazzled mama didn't even know he was missing when my hubby brought him home! I cannot walk into their house without instantly feeling stressed. It's complete chaos. There is no way to give that many kids the amount of love, attention, and nurturing

I wonder how they decided on Puerto Rico. It's my understanding that most of the rural parts of the island are without power and proper necessities still. I was in San Juan right after the hurricanes last year and the LAST thing they need is a McTemple. It's downright insulting and arrogant. Humanitarians, my ass!

The only people that are going to stop calling them Mormons are themselves. The rest of the world will not. Sorry...too little, too late.

So I have a question...Jared is a pretty common name...If all the names on the day you went through were 'Jared', what if someone went through the endowment on the day they were giving out the 'Jared' name and their street name was in fact Jared??? It has to have happened! That would seriously give it all away, dontcha think??

The person closest to me (besides my spouse) is my ultra-TBM temple married sister. We never talk about mormonism whatsoever. She might make a reference to a friend...and she'll mention that they're from church, but that's it. I find it a rarity, though. All former LDS 'friends' are either fake around me, act holier than thou, or don't talk to me. I'm okay with that too! Fortunately I've always h

I find it icky that modern mormons like to dress up their little boys to look like miniaturized missionaries. You know, to prepare (brainwash) them for their future. I'm still surprised they haven't made kid-sized training garments. Shoulder shaming has trickled down to the primary. I always wore sleeveless dresses as a teen (early 90's) and to my mother's horror no panty hose. The whole

Not exactly, but close enough. I'm about to turn 39...been 'inactive' for 20 years and recently resigned! The mishies haven't been by since :-D And I've seen them walking the 'hood recently.

This was one of my first disturbing epiphanies as a young person (probably by the time I reached YW age)...I remember thinking to myself that women weren't treated the same as the men and not nearly as important. That realization was the beginning of the end for me. I do believe that my mother has been stifled by this very problem. Sometimes I see snippets of great potential come out of her...

There is a charter school located here in Northern CA that has become pretty trendy for the local Mormons to try and get into (there is a waitlist). I asked my sis (who jumped on the bandwagon) what the deal was. She says it is a school that was started by Mormons. They operate very strictly when it comes to dress code and other things (i.e. they wear uniforms and females in the middle-school an

I mean I'm not surprised. At all. And btw, it's disturbing and a huge RED FLAG that every person in attendance has to sign a 'will not record' agreement. I do hope he resigns before their stupid 'court'. Stop giving them power, Sam.

Bonus! You can dip that nugget *in* the fry sauce! lol The only time I ever encountered fry sauce was at a Dairy Queen in Southern Idaho. I'm from California. Speaking of CA, the Mormons here all seem to aspire to move to Utah eventually (or even Missouri...'cause which place is the new Zion? I'm confused about that one). I think Mormons in the West are afraid of those 'liberal east coasters

A similar thing has happened to me: A few years ago I started going with my (uber-TBM) sister to her book club. It was all Mormons. I should've known better. But anyway, I did enjoy socializing with a few of the women. After awhile I realized they just talk about church stuff (there was even a garment discussion!) and they spent maybe 5-10 minutes talking about the book of the month. So I stop

This whole thing is so ludicrous. I mean nobody is gonna know what Latter Day Saints are, so when people give a sideways look they'll have to clarify and say 'Mormon'. It's not gonna last. They can't get away from being known as Mormon. Maybe they are trying to change it because it has always carried a stigma...rooted in polygamy. If it looks like a Mormon, walks like a Mormon, talks like a Mor

Resigning via sending an e-mail to church membership records department (as per the instructions on the main page of RfM) got me nowhere but frustrated. The advice was then given to me to use the quitMormo* website (replace the star with an 'N'). They have a Facebook page too. Using that method got me resigned within 2-3 weeks. It was quick and effective and zero drama, as opposed to trying to re

Well I only stayed in until I was 18...so I escaped doing a mission (not that many females go), Mormon college, temple marriage, etc. But as a teen I did the whole Trek reenactment thing. Here in CA we called it the pioneer trek, not just Trek as they seem to do everywhere else. I recently saw a picture of myself (dressed as a pioneer) from back then...I believe I did it in '97. I thought

I think a lot Mormons are very aware of the weird and crazy testimonies on F&T Sunday. Case in point: a lady in my family's ward always talks about how "gee I hope there were no investigators there during F&T this past month!"

It went on for way too long...got super awkward! If nothing else gave away they were Mormons, her garment peep sure did. That was weird. They seemed like soul-less robots.

I don't have an official answer, but my parents sure did yell at us if we weren't folding our arms. And now they do it with my TBM nieces and nephews. It's so aggressive and mean what they do while trying to force children to be reverent and get ready to pray.

True...tough age for sure. Perhaps it depends on how Mormon of an area the OP lives in. If this is Utah, then I totally understand. If not, the chances are better of getting through the social aspect of it. My high school in CA had a lot of Mormon kids, and while I had a few Mormon friends, most of my friends were nevermos. And I hated Mormonism, so if I had been offered the chance to never go ba

My TBM neighbor has 7 kids. I am also one of 7 and I can tell you from experience there is never enough love or attention to go around. (side note, now that we are all adults, my parents seem to get a sick pleasure from making us compete with each other for our parent's love and attention...makes me wanna run). Back to my neighbor. Her kids span from ages 2-14. They are pretty close in age. La
