He was pretty specific in a 1994 conference As God is Man May Become Gordon B. Hinckley, General Conference, October 1994 "On the other hand, the whole design of the gospel is to lead us onward and upward to greater achievement, even, eventually, to godhood. This great possibility was enunciated by the Prophet Joseph Smith in the King Follet sermon (see Teachings of the Prophet Joseph S

Here are a couple of places he said it Gordon B. Hinckley, Time Magazine, interview, August, 1997 Question: ... about that, God the Father was once a man as we were. This is something that Christian writers are always addressing. Is this the teaching of the church today, that God the Father was once a man like we are? Hinckley: I don’t know that we teach it. I don’t know that we emphasiz

In the paper yesterday was an article about how the Kentucky Baptists are raffling off guns to get new members. They call it "outreach to rednecks" http://www.courier-journal.com/article/20140228/FEATURES10/302280129/

We in Kentucky are SO proud. We are getting Bubbas from all over the US. Also in the news was the snake kissing preacher who was bitten and died last week. Actually it is quite an embarrassment. Not everyone is Kentucky is an ignorant fundamentalist.

"Freemasonry evolved along side Rosicrucianism both rooted in Egyptian lore and alchemy." I agree, however I must add Kabbalism in the mix. A few quotes from Albert Pike about the origins of Freemasonry. Consider the words of Albert Pike, arguably the most influential Freemason that has lived, regarding the importance of the Kabbalah in relationship to the mystery schools and t

There are two main types of Freemasonry. There is the York Rite and the Scottish Rite. The York Rite starts with Apprentice and has multiple divisions within the class of Master Mason. Joseph Smith had the third degree of Mason which is Master Mason in the York Rite. He was not a Royal Arch Master Mason which includes their teachings about Melchizedek. The Scottish Rite Freemasonry is the typ

I did the math several years ago comparing the attrition rate in the Mormon Church with the annual death rate for the US. In addition to keeping people on the rolls to 110, it is clearly evident that there is no attrition for resignations. I use to provide graphs and statistics annually on membership numbers and overall Mormon growth. In some years they actually had negative attrition. Fig

Elder Merrill Bateman agreed that many of the members on the “lost address file” list are less-active, especially those on the list for more than twelve months. Individuals in the address unknown file are counted as full members and included on statistical reports until the age of 110 or until proof of death can be located. With an average life expectancy of 77.5 years in the United States an

Why is an official website www.mormon.org? The other is www.lds.org. Why don't they use their name? They like to take offense if you don't use their name but don't feel they have to live by the same rules. Typical Mormon bullshit.

Several years ago I created a video called "Lying for the Lord" from a class that Robert Millet was giving a group of perspective missionaries. The video was eventually taken down for copy write infringement. I filed a counter claim and the video is again available. You can find it at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMJvqBq_Qa8

LDS historian Reed C. Durham, Jr., insists Joseph Smith did in fact use the Masonic ceremony as a springboard for the Mormon ceremony. He wrote, "There is absolutely no question in my mind that the Mormon ceremony which came to be known as the Endowment, introduced by Joseph Smith to Mormon Masons initially, just a little over one month after he became a Mason, had an immediate inspiration f

Humanity (Adam) Originated in Missouri John F. Bowman, Conference Report, October 1946, p. 90 It was a thrilling experience for us to live and to labor in that particular mission, one of the most interesting places in all the world and one of the most important. There are many things concerning that part of the United States that many of us, especially the younger generations probably have forg

The pentagrams, sun stones, moon stones, beehive and most other ornamentation came directly from Freemasonry. This includes the three pillars which stand for wisdom, strength and beauty. Upright Pentagram "By the early Christians it was used to represent the five wounds, the stigmata of the Consolator Mundi, by the Rosicrucians, the five elements and the five senses. What we DO know about the 1978 “Revelation” In 1969 Hugh B. Brown actively lobbied to allow blacks to receive the priesthood. This was supported by a majority of the apostles. They formed a “special committee was to report on the Negro situation”. The change was approved while Harold B. Lee was absent. Upon his return he rejected the decision and persuaded the quorum to rescind the

As early as 1818-1819 the group was talking about spiritual wivery. Jacob Cochran would assign women to the men - legal marriages were not considered valid. He would move the women from time to time - shift them between the men. It was said by one of the people that approximately 50% of the women in the group were assigned to him at one point or another. http://www.sidneyrigdon.com/dbroadhu/NE/

The idea of the primitive church needing a restoration, prophets, apostles and so forth was taken directly from a communal religious group at the time known as the Seekers. It just so happens that one of Joseph Smith's maternal uncles was the leader of a Seeker commune. Funny how all of Smith's revolutionary ideas can be so easily traced to other sources. Melchizedek priesthood and High Pri

Joseph Smith was familiar with the work of Emanuel Swedenborg. Swedenborg was a 18th century mystic who wrote about the nature of heaven in his book "Heaven and its Wonders and Hell", which included a description of three degrees of glory and the celestial kingdom. Swedenborg got many of his ideas from the study of Kabbalism. Deconstructor has a nice discussion about Swedenborg and

In addition to the symbol for the Eastern Star in Freemasonry, the inverted pentagram is the symbol for the five points of fellowship in Freemasonry. The five points of fellowship was an integral part of passing through the veil in the Mormon temple ceremony until 1990. The Church of Satan was founded on June 6, 1966 with the Satanic Bible being written in 1969. The inverted pentagram was us

My wife (never-mo) posted on this board for a few years as Lucyfer. From what I could tell she was generally accepted by all. I will say as well, that she was a more popular and recognized than I was. I don't believe I ever saw her criticized because of a post. I am sure a few people here will remember her.
