I paid way too much for those "non tangible religious benefits" of three-hour block meetings, home teaching, service projects, cleaning toilets, missionary splits and meetings, meetings, meetings. Tithing continued four years after the last temple attendance 14 years ago. I know, it sounds selfish from one perspective, but most debt would have been paid off or an airplane purchased.

My Never MO DW was surprized by the sissies yesterday. When she called to tell me, her words when she saw them on the porch were, "oh goodie." She hit them with the wives of JS, versions of the first vision, and other doctrine. They were stunned to say the least with one saying, "What!? I've never heard that." and said they were only allowed to frequent lds.org. She showed

What's with Wayne May and Rod Meldrom using pseudoarcheology of the Hopewell and Adena civilizations to support Jaredite chronology. Wayne May "support the authenticity of the Kinderhook Plates. He postulates that the Jaredites were desendents of Ham noting Olmec head facial features. He mentions evidence for North American elephants, horses, and cattle. He will confuse the weak minded m

Watch this: http://hotm.tv/ep-348/ as a MD with only real world (I'm an ER doc), not formal psychiatry training, this is mostly correct. When I was graduating Medical School in 1996, one speaker noted that 1/3 of all visits to primary care providers would be due to emotional or spiritual issues. He referenced a forward thinking, early 1900's physician's essay: The Physician as Priest. G

Bryson and company (two, soon to be missionaires) came to Twin Falls, ID in 1982 or 1983. The OP's post is accurate. He gave a two day "fireside" and the stake presidenty paid the entire tab; even giving room and board in a counselor's home (he was a gem, pardon the pun, of the triumvirate). The first day consistented of the scary talk and the second, a solution; a pseudo Hegellian D

I was encouraged by my bishop to write Elder Nelson a letter when I was contemplating a residency in General Surgery. I was wondering if the chruch's teachings on family contradicted a lifestyle that would require 110 hour weeks during residency (5-7 years depending on research) and 80 ish after. The bishop and stake president couldn't answer my questions. Russel Nelson wrote a nice letter (te

My divorce was final in 2006. My kids were young. Years later, daughter #3 has left and now see the insanity of it all. It takes time, stay consistent with the children, and "keep the faith" for the sake of the children and I'm speaking of your faith in your temporarily deluded children.

As I am reading his biography, I really like this guy! He's a Rfm alumni posthumus. The chruch paints him as a back woods Missouri ruffian. However, the man studied medicine, held a school, and passed the law exam of the day in Utah, and became an attorney. However, his biography shows how such an intelligent man could be fleeced by bring-them-young.

A BYU New Testiment professior told the class something like: some mormons think there was a metaphysical process where HF's sperm came into Mary's viJJ, but real mormon's K N O W the process was completely natural. He then went on to disucss some of his interactions with BKP, who of course, questioned him of his unworthiness regarding his mind or sprit block to personal private reveltion vs hi

I was sent to a "honor code" officer by BYU PD after trying to access said BYU tunnels. Rumors of the local Provo, UT ninja practicing their craft in the tunnels caused our mushy freshman brains to spin, thinking of the pizza in a Cougar Eat cooler. With flash lights in hand and a rope loop, we were elevating the underground latch (sidewalk between Helaman Halls and Cafe) chained to a

Has anyone in the UK encountered The Latter Day Church of Jesus Christ and been introduced to the Book of Jeraneck? http://www.latterdaychurch.co.uk/jeraneck.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JTHBOEvKFk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vc9vdynFm0o He doesn't much deviate from the Joseph Smith template of bringing forth new scripture.

Never MO wife and I were just discussing this topic: Option 1, a funeral wearing a baker's suit and hat. Option 2, give away all useful organs and tissues, cremate me, take the ashes to my favorite place, wait for the conflict later. The conclusion: I have to record and notarize my last wishes on paper.

My daughter, high school senior has been kicked out of the house by TBM ex. She's a 4.3 GPA, classical violinist, full ride scholarship to college of her choice. I need to say she lives out of state and moved during her freshman year because her TBM mom was awarded her horses in divorce. Her mom moved out of state without consent. I pushed the issue through the legal system but the harder I pushe

ajhart; Your post touched a neuron, a nerve, an emotion. I felt like I was listening to my daughter and looking back on my own life, seven siblings and seven children; living with many personalities, a divorce (mine), childrens' reactions to a divorce, remarriage, and attempts at healing, forgetting, and new dramas that mostly occur when sharing information/truth from personal studies/reading

I'm a MD with a back issue also. Reglan seems to counter some of the opiate side effects, Neurontin a good idea for neuropathic pain, Nyucenta a new opiate like selective receptor agonist, with seratonin and noreepi activity. Direct spinal blocks of various types work very well. Can give additional input when at a computer rather then I-phone. I really feel for you and have studied this more the
