What seems odd to me is that this breach happened in March and TSSC claims that it was law enforcement that told them not to let people know about it! This is not common, is it?

To be clear...I never knew he was gay until the day he told me which was weeks before our 23rd wedding anniversary. I was his one and only girlfriend. We got engaged in college and then I waited for him to serve a mission. We had 4 kids and he was faithful to me our whole marriage. He WANTED the whole mormon life and even served as a bishop. He kept praying and hoping he would eventually have

I read that article. Almost posted about it, but it hit too close to home. My ex was a prof at BYU for years, too. We still have the lifetime seats we bought when the new football stadium was built. My grown kids inherited them and sit in the same seats now. He told me that he used to sit in his office on campus and watch students as they went around campus. He often wondered if any of them wer

A family member was a mission president in the 90's and left a thriving medical practice to do so. He was about 60. I don't know anything about a stipend or being paid. I do know that when he got back, he had to go in with another doctor and revive his medical career because they needed the income.

If Mary's first sexual experience was with God, how could any mortal man compete with that? Kinda feel bad for Joseph.

The pomp and pageantry was quite over the top, I agree. On the one hand, it must carry a sense of continuity and even comfort for the folks who turned out to witness the funeral of the queen. I have to admit that I did have just the slightest giggle when I saw the line of soldiers with the head gear with white streamers that looked like toilet paper.

When children or spouses or friends come out as gay, the conversation changes dramatically. Then the so called leaders don't have any answers for the family except that it will all be worked out in the eternities, many are done with the church. It is happening in my own family at an increasing pace.

What? The U of I is where I spent my limited college time. It was Very liberal. Almost all of my mormon friends from high school went to Ricks (as it was called back then) and thought I should not go to such a worldly school. I haven't ever gone back to see the campus since I was there in the late 60's. I have wanted to see how it has grown and changed. Now, not so much.

I thought that was a big no-no to play on the sabbath. With national TV coverage such a coveted goal, perhaps the powers that be at the COB have softened their stance on this a bit. The absolute pandemonium on the field after the cougars won seems to indicate that all those fans didn't give a second thought to the fact it was Sunday!

A relative noted in her online journal that 6 people bore their testimony yesterday. That seemed like a very small number. So I wondered if there was a lot of uncomfortable silence or if the members are more verbose at the microphone now days. Not that I care, but just wondered. Also, I never really counted how many on any given fast Sunday went up to bear their testimony.

Their PR dept must be working overtime playing whack-a-mole on all the unflattering news reports lately. Front page news on CNN about the black Duke volleyball player who had racial slurs shouted at her at BYU Friday, the removing of materials aimed at LGBTQ incoming students in their welcome bags, the child abuse cover-up from AZ, the employee requirement regarding clergy-member confidentiality

The website invited me to open an account...ahh, no thanks! Is this a new version of Deseret Book or a totally different store? The Deseret Book store I went to in a local shopping center to get the KSL calendar at Christmas is gone, which surprised me.

I am old enough to remember when polio was so feared that as a first grader in the early 50's I was not allowed to drink out of the garden hose or play in the dirt. We lined up in school to get a polio shot and a couple of years later (iirc) to get a polio booster given orally on a sugar cube. There did not seem to be any hesitancy on ANYONE's part to get vaccinated. I recently saw a large

I saw this on KSL at 5 today but now I really had to hunt to find it online. I do not condone the vandalism. But I've never had a hard time reading more about news stories like I did tonight. hmmmm https://kutv.com/news/local/six-latter-day-saint-churches-vandalized-in-sandy-targeted-buildings-spray-paint-messages

my ex was paying for our son's mission until he skipped the last month or two before the end of his mission. I found out later that the ward paid those. I don't know Whether specific members chipped in or what but I only found out about it after the fact. I was never contacted by anyone in the bishopric about it.

I have a relative who just turned 19. There is no discussion or inclination about a mission. He is active afaik but he works a full time job now. I hope he isn't getting pressured, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was. If this is the direction things are going, the church will have more young people ditching it all. Missions are so stale and outdated, almost quaint. I see the missionaries rid

The judge has approved some of it but has some issue with the $250 Million the mormon church is putting into the fund. https://www.ksl.com/article/50449201/us-judge-rejects-parts-of-boy-scouts-27-billion-sex-abuse-deal

I found that friendships in the church were simply because we were in the same ward or were in callings that put us in the same church circle. I NEVER felt like I could share anything with them that was more than superficial. I became the subject of gossip when my then husband was the bishop and I went to work full time. Oh the horrors that the bishop's wife was working outside the home.

Are mormons still clinging to the notion that the earth is only 6000 years old? If so, the pictures from the Webb Telescope surely has blown that up. Maybe that old teaching has gone down the memory hole.

Was the shooter raised in the mormon church? The current mayor of Highland Park said she was his cub scout den mother when he was a little kid. Unless she is/was also a mormon, it seems to me that he was in a non-LDS troop. The family was/is highly dysfunctional, with lots of arguments between the parents, even in front of customers at the father's deli and police were called to the home on d
