Yay! I used to post these types of threads- but alas, I don’t come here anymore. I just hopped on today on a whim to read conference updates ;) I just started reading Missoula- Rape and the Justice System in a College Town by Jon Krakauer. I need to get on here every now and then. I recognize some monikers from when I was an active poster!

I'm indulging in the "Outlander" series, and book 3 is all I accomplish in my spare time. =) I'm also a podcast addict...pretty sure I've admitted this on here before. I just discovered "Secular Buddhism" which is great. Also love Sam Harris and his "Waking Up" podcast. What about you all?

There's just something so perfect in reading a book in the fall, under a blanket, with a coffee by my side. I hibernate in the cold weather and get more reading done than in the summer. I'm currently reading "She's Come Undone" by Wally Lamb. I've read two of his other books... which were phenomenal. What're you reading right now?

Know several people who work for the school and they love it. Love the school and the area. Not too Mormon either.

I Didn't get as much reading done this summer as I'd have liked- but oh well. I am reading 'Dragonfly in Amber' which is the second book in the 'Outlander' series. I'd like to finish it before I watch the Starz version of it. Then after that? Who knows!! So...what are you reading this summer?

I've just started the book "The Family." http://www.amazon.com/The-Family-Secret-Fundamentalism-American/dp/0060560053?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00 Its not a book I'd typically read, but I'll give it a go. I'm also obsessed with Podcasts. Infants on Thrones and Mormon Stories are a must. And with conference this weekend, Mormon related p

Thank you so much for the links and comments. Simon Southerton is such a great reference, and a bad ass.

Have I been out of the loop for too long? I really DON'T CARE one way or another if there is conclusive DNA evidence to prove the BOM is true- there are far more issues to keep my unbelief from changing. But I'm a bit curious... This video has been shared by several on FB today, so I finally watched it. The video itself is new but I'm not sure how new the 'evidence' is. https://www.youtub

I was a molly through and through. My husband was a jackmo of sorts, so he "lived" a little (at least more than I did) before we got married. So he did sow some oats so to speak. I went through what you're describing about a year after we left the church. Its rough! So many lost opportunities. I think I finally decided I had a pretty damn good life. I Put that energy into hav

Today I received a Christmas letter and a family photo from a friend- a friend from long ago. We don't interact anymore other than the yearly holiday cards/letters. In the letter she talked about her family and how she had a miscarriage earlier this year, and in the next breath proceeded to say the Lord had a plan and that was the plan for them. While this is a sad thing for anyone to go t

I love a good ol' page turner. I needed a casual read, so I picked up one from Kristen Hannah called 'Magic Hour.' Sooo good. Its about a feral child and her therapist. Another good read by Hannah (be prepared to do the Oprah ugly cry) is 'Winter Garden.' Did you request any reads for x-mas? Are you reading anything great right now?

While being active in the church during my youth and young adult phase(like young married and young mom), I loved to go out and do stuff with people. I craved Girl's Night Outs, enjoyed ward dinners, and hosted countless parties of my own. I was an extrovert through and through. I've noticed that the longer I distance myself from the LDS culture, the more I dread going out or being involved w

I have 3 piercings in each ear, a nose ring- teeny tiny stud on the right side, and 4 tattoos. I'd love to change one of my tattoos and get another one- but not sure what I want yet. =)

When I was 9 years old, all I wanted to be when I grew up was a mom. It's what I was taught to be, and more importantly, its what I was supposed to be. Today my 9 year old daughter was watching 'Friends,' the episode where Rachael had her baby. My daughter started to ask me a question, which started out "if I choose to have kids..." Yes! She HAS a choice. Just because she has all

I've slowly weeded out most anything that could be considered 'Mormon' over the years, but unfortunately, there are some items I just can't part with. For example... My quad My temple clothes Some LDS related literature A picture frame that says "forever" Some children's books The Forgotten Carols on CD My husband has a few things he's not willing to part with either. I love threads like this. My absolute favorite movie is "The Last of the Mohican's" but I've loved it since I was TBM and 14... A movie I wouldn't have seen (but would've wanted to) while a TBM would have been "Cake." Amazing film. I watch a ton of documentaries dealing with 'uncomfortable' issues. It's so great to be able to choose what I watch or read. One small per

The last calling I had was the Missionary Bulletin Board. I had to make sure the missionary plaques were made and hung and do a background inside the case. I'd just had my 4th baby and was overwhelmed with my previous calling, and my own life- so I asked for something easier. That's what I got. What was the last calling you had, or still have (if you want to go there)...

My husband wasn't a virgin when he and I married- but I was. I hope he's never felt guilty about it because I've never really cared. I've envied his experiences tho... You can't win either way;) Don't think too much about it. This is such a fun time in your marriage!

I'm just finishing up 'The Sin's of Brother Curtis.' Its absolutely disgusting how the church covered up abuse- in all its forms- and protected the offender. This book will stay with me for a very long time. http://www.amazon.com/Sins-Brother-Curtis-Betrayal-Conviction-ebook/dp/B003V1WUGM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1439910603&sr=8-1&keywords=the+sins+of+brother+curtis So what are

But the Boy Scouts bought the old melaleuca building before the vote to release the ban on gay leaders. http://www.localnews8.com/news/boy-scout-council-buys-former-melaleuca-building/34170856 I'm wondering what will happen now. If anything. Again- If this has been discussed already move along. =) Happy Saturday all!

Gah. This is one of the (many) reasons I got off FB. Its so dumb. Like really dumb. I'm just wondering if anyone else is a little too quick and/or too confrontational when responding to negative comments. So on IG today I posted a harmless photo of some coffee today. I got a slightly attacking comment from someone who's NEVER interacted with me on social media before, and who un-followed m
