I think it's a safe bet that in any room of more than five or ten Mormon youth, someone has recently engaged in some sexual act with another person, and that many (maybe all) of them are active masturbators. When adult Mormon leaders try to pretend like they have the power of discernment to root out the offenders, they're just playing the odds and enjoying the power of intimidation they have o

Holy Cow, jiminy! Glad to hear you didn't lose the finger and that it is healing. Sounds like you need a well deserved break from your transcription "duties." Best of luck! : )

So, if there were "pre-Adamites" (or any other life forms on earth for that matter), whenever they were born, they all lived up until about 6,000 years ago: http://exmormon.org/phorum/read.php?2,1053163,1053483#msg-1053483 And that's a BIG problem for Mormonism.

There's NO WAY that's true ... because if it were, well, it would just make the whole Noah's Ark story RIDICULOUS!

Search "pay lay ale" in the following document, which compares the pre-1990 temple ceremony with the one that replaced it: http://www.i4m.com/think/temples/temple_ceremony.htm Basically, according to Mormonism, the phrase means "Oh God, hear the words of my mouth!" (in the "Adamic" language, apparently) and was removed from the temple ceremony in 1990.

I think if I were a fanatical Mormon, and didn't want to "lose blessings," what I would do is determine exactly how much I had paid into Social Security over the years, then only pay tithing on the checks once they totaled more than that amount.

The Mormon church has never--as far as I am aware--made any kind of official list of doctrine or catechism that one can consult to make that determination for any given point. I like to defer to the idea of "official teachings of the Mormon church," instead. Of course, these "official teachings" change like the wind. However, here's a nice summary of CURRENTLY taught conc

The "research" was conducted by a BYU professor--hardly an objective, disinterested party: "Healing Effects of Tobacco Juice "People in the rural South used to swear by the healing properties of tobacco juice applied to, say, a bee or wasp sting, and to some it still may be the home remedy of choice. Now scientists are catching up with folk wisdom. Recent research ind

What were the specific sources your father found? Do we know they weren't created by Mormons? Was there actual scientifically and competently conducted medical research that was cited? I looked on Wikipedia, under the topic of treatment for bruises and, uhhhh, NOTHING about using tobacco: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruise#Treatment Also, under "Health Effects of Tobacco," n

"The Mormons have a fairly small presence in Iceland, but worth mentioning for historical reasons. In the nineteenth century, LDS missionaries came to Iceland and converted a few local residents. In 1855, these residents would become the genesis of the first Icelandic community overseas in Spanish Fork, Utah.[11] "As of January 1, 2012 Iceland had 265 LDS members in 2 branches (Reykj

Yes, the CoJCoLDS can and WILL be reformed. But it's always been a straggler. In a generation or two, the Mormon church will be where just about everybody else is now. Just as Joseph Smith and Brigham Young wouldn't recognize the church of today, Gordon Hinckley and Thomas Monson wouldn't recognize the church that will emerge in the 22nd century.

There is also the phenomenon of "emotional investment." The more of one's life (time, resources, personal energy) they have devoted to any given cause, the less likely they are to abandon it, even if they are exposed to overwhelming objective evidence that the thing is a fraud. It's just part of the human condition.

New York law defined a disorderly person as, among other things, a vagrant or a seeker of 'lost goods.' The Prophet had been accused of both: the first charge was false and was made simply to cause trouble; Joseph’s use of a seer stone to see things that ot

Mormonism is an inside joke. We exmos are "lucky" to be in on it. Most TBMs are offended by any implication of humor in the really weird stuff. And most nevermos are more disturbed by it than amused.
