One thing I learned is that it is okay to be sad. We are taught growing up in the church that we need to be happy all the time. If not there is something wrong with us. Embrace it, all emotions are part of our experience. But try not to let it effect everything else that is great about your life. I am more spiritual now with my new beliefs. I never would have discovered them if it weren't for t

This topic is so broad and deep! It is different for everyone with how they experience this emotion. When you leave a cult everyone feels misled, used, manipulated, angry at yourself for believing something so stupid, anger with former members and all sorts of other stuff. When I first left I was extremely angry. I have been out almost 4 years now and would say that during the first 3 years

WHAT MOVIES DO YOU THINK ARE MUST WATCH EXMO CLASSICS?! Does anyone else have to explain why they have never seen certain movies? I have to explain to people all the time that I couldn't watch certain ratings growing up. It's cool now because all these movies I've never seen are new to me. Donnie Darko was brought up by Johnny Boy. If you watch it you will catch and notice many similar

I remember watching this movie as a TBM. It was watched after curfew as well in BYU approved housing. Haha we were such badasses back then lol! After we watched it we all discussed what we thought about it. All of us were very confused on what we perceived the meaning to be. However, it did help us to think outside the box. One of the main points of the movie is that things aren't always

Unfortunately... With the hiring of Kilane Sitake as head coach and Ty Detmer as the offensive coordinator (although not officially yet), BYU football is going to have one last hurrah. Sitake is extremely well respected in the polynesian community. Utah was able to get a large majority of the sought after poly recruits when he was a defensive coach there. Most of the LDS Poly community still

My parents found out right before the holidays. I had told my brother I left and asked him to not tell my parents, especially my mom, so we could enjoy the holidays before she became depressed. Anyway, my brother was pissed I had left and told my parents to get back at me. I knew my mom would be extremely depressed. Thanksgiving and Christmas was very hard on her. She had to up her depression

Boycott BYU or the LDS church I understand. But Utah? That discriminates against a whole state. I know the majority of the state is mormon, but that is not fair to everyone in the state who is not LDS. That includes Salt Lake's large gay population that call Utah home.

I felt the story was meant to piss off Mormon mothers. It was put on KSL because that is the website Mormons go to for news and interesting stories. It is hard for these moms to go to places with all those screaming children. It is downright annoying going somewhere in Utah and here a million screaming babies. I don't feel sympathy. People should get baby sitters for their kids, or take them outs

I don't think they are conmen. I feel they are brainwashed. Unfortunately, Mormonism and making money scams go hand in hand. Cult members and even former cult members are very susceptible to get rich quick schemes. I see your point dydimus. For the sake of the falling of the church, this financial scheme of the durrant kid should be exposed. I'll even retract my statement. It should be expose

I'm from Provo and went to school with kids from the Durrant family. They are good people who are unfortunately brainwashed once like we were. Granted the use of the word and talk was used for financial gain, but I feel they learned their lesson. I feel sorry for the family and what they are going through. Give 'em a break.

Eastern Carolina isn't that bad of a team. They could very well pull off a W in P-Town.

If BYU loses to Eastern Carolina that loss will be very detrimental to it's football program. BYU will be 3-3 if they lose. This will hurt recruiting and respect for the team and TSCC. All exmos need to hope for the worst for BYU this Saturday. TSCC has used BYU football for many years to use its image to boost the cult. Now that the program is in peril the cult is suffering. They can't get into

One of the things that started me questioning the church was its policy on guns at BYU housing. I couldn't understand why I couldn't keep a .22 and shotgun in BYU housing? Shooting was one of the best dates to do. The ladies loved it. If the doctrine and covenants said that the constitution was inspired by god, but they wouldn't let me have my second ammendment rights on BYU housing, is the churc

I was in the bubble. I'm a sixth generation Provoan. I still live close to the bubble and most my friends are Mormon. I have some new friends that aren't LDS, but I have a hard time relating to them and I wouldn't call them close friends. I kind of prefer it that way. I have a lot of hope in getting many of my friends and family out of the cult. Although I'm out of TSCC, I still am close with my

I have been thinking about recovery a lot and what it means to recover. I feel that we as former members of a cult are in a constant state of recovery. It takes time to recover from something as dramatic as being in a cult. Our minds were brainwashed to think and act in a certain way. Most of us were nurtured and taught to think like the cult as children, which is the most important developmental

Back in the singles ward, bishops used to pull callings out of their ass. Some dumb, but hot girl in charge of the fellowship commitee thought I was inactive because I could only attend church twice a month because of a job. I did my calling as a sports coordinator and had a weekly sports activity for the kids in my ward, payed a full tithe, went to the temple and read the scriptures and prayed d

Thanks to the restoration of the restored gospel, for the first time ever, a football team has beat a football team through another football team! The Utes handily beat Michigan for their season opener September 3rd in SLC 24-17. Today BYU got smashed by Michigan 31-0. Utah is not playing BYU for the second year in a row due to the fact that BYU is in a lower kingdom (independent/telestial) and
