I have had it done several times by a physical therapist. It definitely works, although I think massage works just as well. The practitioner applies steady pressure for several minutes to one spot, and then the muscles start moving. It is a very strange feeling when your muscles are moving and your brain isn't telling them to.

Great coffe. My wife and I always stop in there when traveling through that area. Haven't met Father Michael, but the nuns working there are very nice. Get the Eastern Queen. You won't regret it.

Park on the outer edges where no one is parked, AND take up two spaces. No door or cart dings! Plus good exercise.

As a former Army officer, I can tell you that the best thing to do is take care of it now, before you go in. I have seen many servicemen get screwed in divorces. The military has their own set of rules, which are probably going to be worse for you than gong through a regular divorce outside of their system. Good luck.

I was adopted as an infant, and my parents were/are Mormons. A whole lot of good luck bad luck. Still not sure if I should be thankful or pissed. Maybe both.

I'm also a public school teacher; totally agree with your views. Same things happening in my neck of the woods. Been teaching 20 years, but it is getting ridiculous. 15 more to retire; not gonna happen. I'm planning to do something different, don't care if it pays a lot less. I believe the world economic situation is going to get a lot worse. When that happens, government jobs probably wil

My TBM mother encouraged me to watch the upcoming conference. She knows I resigned...WTF? I told her I would rather get a root canal. Anyway, here is her prediction: One of the bigwigs, Oaks or Holland, I forget which, might talk about religious freedom and how it is being taken away in this country. It would be very important to pay attention to this, as our country is in dire shape. LOL

My BIL and SIL tried for a long time for kid #2. Like 5 yrs. Someone recommended an acupuncturist. He said he could help her. She got pregnant shortly thereafter. Go figure. And no, the baby isn't Chinese.

Former Army officer here...have seen situations similar. He sure as hell can be demoted for this; in fact I will be shocked if he is just allowed to retire.

LOL. A blast from the past...OP here. One very funny thing that did happen was a "panty" box. Each young woman brought a cute pair of panties and put them in a box, a collective gift so to speak. Knowing this was planned, and since it was in my house and I had access, I surreptitiously planted a pair of 2XL men's briefs in the bottom of the box. Did I mention they were used? It wa

Yes. The Mormon "worthiness" interviews and expectations make you either a liar, or a shameful sinner. Nobody (especially kids, teenagers and young adults) should have to put up with that shit. I saw what happened to my friend when he confessed to sleeping with his girlfriend (now married 30 yrs). The public humiliation he went through before being "allowed" to serve a m

A colleague's husband owns a lawn service business; we were talking recently and she mentioned he had the local LDS church account here. I know his services don't come cheap. But I'm also sure that the Morg saves money in the long run by not having to pay wages, benefits, taxes, retirement, health care, etc. As it gets harder and harder to get volunteers, I think they'll go this route for t

I have spent most of my 50+ years in WA State, except for 10 years traveling in the military. Been to a lot of places, all over the country. I live in the center of the state, on the dry side. Just about whatever climate and/or geography you like, you can find here. Hot in the summer, not too cold in the winter. Rainforest to desert. Towering mountain peaks and ski resorts, to wide open desert

"No true friendships in Mormonism" made me think back to when I was a teenager. My folks enjoyed card games, and several other couples were regulars. They would visit each others homes for card parties/socials. And then the ward split. The card parties became a rare occurrence. Even though the other couples still lived in the same homes, they were now in different wards. They were

Paraphrased from the video "Tomorrowland"... Father giving advice to daughter: 2 wolves, a white one and a black one, get into a fight. Which one wins? Answer: the one you feed. Find some positives to get involved in. Good luck.

Since the original thread is closed... I served as an Army enlisted military intelligence specialist (linguist), and then later as an officer attached to an infantry battalion. Because the training was so specialized, several of the schools I attended were multi-service. These are my recommendations based on personal observations and experience. Air Force offers the best quality of life. Pe

I live in a fairly Mormon area, and I have a student in my class named Joseph Smith. And yes, he is LDS. He's a nice kid, but that name just triggers me. 7 more months.

Just spent half a day on the Columbia River in search of King Salmon for the grill. Today, the salmon won. I guess that's why they call it fishing instead of catching.

Great minds think alike! I have also told my family to have my carbon leftovers turned into small diamonds so they can each keep a little piece of me. Way better than an urn full of ashes, IMO.

My dad had a temper, and when I screwed up I got the leather belt. Didn't happen too often, but enough to fear it. In high school I became a star athlete, wrestling and football. One day at dinner he pushed me too far and I pushed back...literally. Turned into an actual fight, and it was over pretty quick. He never tried any shit like that again. My dad was a bully and there is only one wa

Teachers in WA State start out at about $35K, and top out at about $64k. Top pay is not bad if you live in a small community on the eastside of the state (very rural). It's a poor salary if you live on the west side in one of the larger cities like Seattle.

I realize every state approaches teacher pay differently. Where I live and teach (WA State), pay is a function of two things, education and yrs experience. Most teachers I know earn their Masters degree, and additional credits, over the years. Once a teacher hits 16 yrs, and a MA degree plus, they are topped out on the pay scale. After that, you get no more raises. With inflation, and r

Can you imagine being a missionary and trying to sell the gospel, while showing a picture of JS looking into his hat? It would not fly in this day and age. Period. It would be ridiculed, and justly so. That is the long and short of it. Reasonable people won't buy it. And the church knows it. Even your TBM relatives know this, but won't say it. It will be interesting to see how the missio

I just spent several days at the Venetian a couple of weeks ago. It was top-notch. The suite was great, and the poker room is one of the best in Vegas. The only thing I didn't like was the convoluted layout of the towers and living space. By the time I figured it all out, the trip was about over.
