You summed up the situation about not-so-on-going-revelations superbly joejoe50. They have trouble enuf now attempting to make things work with ole joe's revs---imagine if they had twice that amount to deal with.

I have seen it happen over and over again where money and manipulation are paired together so as to get someone to do what you want them to. Church, school, employment, families, you name the place and it goes on. How hard for your cousin to have this demand on him when it is connected with his employment. Sounds to me like he has some difficult decisions ahead of him.

I believe there is too much danger in letting the mormoney cult, as I view it, go unchallenged. They are into money, control, and prestige no matter what. And the "no matter what" is what frightens me. Strengthening the Members Committee is not a committee to be taken lightly, nor are all the lies and manipulation sputtered by the cult. There are countless examples, but one recent o

Just read an email from a family member out in the mission field who is trying to help solve a divorce dispute so that a couple can then be baptized. A DIVORCE DISPUTE!!! It made me so angry thinking that this is just what a 19 year old young lady needs to be doing at this time in her life. My yes, by all means does she possess the training and life experience to be out in some far away place

For me when I see the suits (great term, by the way) up there, I want to put Burger King hats on their fat heads. Most of them wouldn't even wake up when this was done. Hee hee hee I have always thought, even when I was active, that they are just so POMPOUS and OLD and WAY CREEPING OLD, and why couldn't there be some good lookin' young elders sitting up there who were telling funny jokes and

Took two of my grandchildren to the zoo where they saw one of "those" on a large rhino. So when asked what they liked best about the zoo, one of the kids replied without any hesitation, "the rhino's big penis." Kids, you got to love 'em.

The cult's cover-ups, twists and turns, and out-right-bold-faced-lies about their history when discovered by its members is right at the top of teaching Mormons it is fine and dandy to lie. If the members do not say it out loud, then they are thinking, "Well, the church cult's leaders do it. Why shouldn' I?" I also think the cult is teaching children to lie by encouraging them at s

I second that how you are feeling sounds a lot like PTSD. My suggestion is to see a counselor if possible to help you work through this difficult time. Also, forestpal's suggestions are terrific---they are suggestions that I also learned and have helped tremendously. Know this will take time and hard work, but is so worth the effort. The alternative is to live a life feeling like you do whi

Thanks for this post. I had not seen the Reuters article before and found it interesting and informative. Approx. two weeks ago I had a discussion with a TBM family member about the cult''s finances. I mentioned that in Canada the cult had to be more forthright because of Canada's laws. The person seemed interested, is working in the business investment world, but who knows if he/she will l

I get dizzy from the cherry-pickin' that goes on in mormonism as well as with the christians and the bible. And when I try to go figure----well, it just does not work. Their 2+2=5 is not the way I dunn learnt it. About as good as I can come up with is to try and laugh and say, "Whatever....And whatever floats your boat."

A very nice look at ETB's strengths and weaknesses as you saw him' Steve. Nice that you shared the positive he brought into your life for us all to understand and know. And, also that you shared the negative. Humans are interesting and so complex. This much I believe.

Dk you have come up with a great quote: "After all, members have free agency to do exactly as the church says." And, I too, will take an "F" on my mormon activity and belief report card. This "grading" deal is a sweet idea for filling those minutes if you have to sit through a moron churchy meeting. Ummmm.....the poor schmuck over there who I"m pos

The laughs inside really grew when I saw my handsome husband-to-be dressed as a clown.....and then it hit me, hey, you must look just as much the clown! (you know, couldn't see myself n all). I never laughed out loud, not that brave, but oh, did I want to.

I have adult children who are no-mos, have not resigned, and have been harassed a lot my the LD$ cult. My delightful son and his darling ex-catholic wife have enjoyed lots of laughs over the lengths the church will go to have a little visit with them. One that they still break-up over is when the cult, probably in desperation, sent the bishop over. At this point they had had it. Sooo...They

Two nuggets of advice that helped me at a very low point in my life were "Live for today" and "Everyone makes mistakes." I was stuck on the merry-go-round of reliving my hurt, anger and guilt thinking I was the only one dumb enough to have made the wrong turns in life I had made. In try to make a change and feel better, I took the advice of living for today for at first f

I too extend my thanks for posting this as I was going to look it up also. I think Stephen Colbert is one of the best comedians and social commentators around. He, and others like him, help us Americans hear the real facts and laugh about ourselves in the process.

I am so sorry your sister shamed you with name calling. Members of the LD$ church, as well as members from other churchs, surely feel that they have the Gawd-given right to do this, don't they? And, I am ashamed to admit, I was guilty of this behavior in my younger LD$ cult going days. I think the reason I acted like this was because I had been taught I was chosen to live in these latter-d

I have tried, and can try harder, to be vocal about the realities of LD$ missions by talking to the youth as well as the parents. People getting involved is about the only workable solution I see to this horrible mess. It is, IMHO, a frustrating and scary situation because the TBM I've had these discussions with think that what I am saying just doesn't add up because their mormoney cult says

Me thinks the real reason for the exclamation marks is they give the mishie girls something to do and type about in lieu of no dunkings to write home about!!! Or--- Perhaps, it is a case of "protesting too enthusiastically!!!", masking how they really feel, but do not dare voice out there by themselves---lonely, homesick, tired of being told NO we are not interested in your s

My husband and I years ago did take responsibility with our two children who were determined to go on missions (despite our desire for them not to go), attempting to educate them and warn them just how dangerous their callings to Haiti and South Africa were. We BEGGED them to tell the LD$ church they needed to be sent to different places because their parents were DEAD SET against them serving in

When I told one family member that I had resigned from the church, the reply was, "Oh, (and then my name). The tone said everything while the words were pretty bland. The tone of voice was, "Oh, you stupid s&%$, Why would anyone in their right mind do that? You just dug your own grave." I sent letters to my children informing them of my resignation as well as asking them t
