Levi Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > When will they say "numbers are not important" and > stop the stat reports? That's what I was thinking. The numbers are looking very bad for the morg. These stats make it obvious that people are leaving the church, and very few are interested in joining. The number of missionaries decreased to 74 thousan

In the past several years they have had way too many screw-ups and gaffes. Their whole mandate now is to continue damage control and try, try not to mess things up. The most recent directive must be to keep everything well-scripted, mainstream and moderate.

Personally, I don't like April Fools' day. I managed to get through yesterday without being pranked. I think a lot of people don't like it, and it usually causes various problems because many people take it too far.

Seven billion was their estimated income in 2012. In 2016 this figure is probably lower, but who knows, as their financials are kept secret. At any rate, it's expensive to run a religious empire such as the cojcolds, and they are hoarding as much money as they can for the future. If the day ever comes that the morg is no longer profitable, many of the suits will jump ship in search of a better

When it comes to motab performances no one seems to care about the morg's treatment of women, children, gays, and the damage they do to people and families. I guess it's all about the feel-good choir, careers, money, broadcasts etc. Who cares about people's lives...bring on the muppets!

There are only three possible answers: "No", "Yes" and "I am so sustained". "No" is truthful, but that truth is not very useful. "Yes" is a bald-faced lie and they know it, so they avoid saying it. "I am so sustained" works because they avoid the first two answers while not being accused of lying.

If there are no homosexual members of the church then why the need for the policy on gay marriage? The media pays little attention to Bednob because he's a nobody. Holland, Monson, Uchtdork...they are all nobodies. The only reason the cojcolds exists is that they have money. Lots and lots of money. If the money runs out the cojcolds will be another backwoods Mormon cult. They'll have to

Any organization I'm involved with has complete financial transparency -- no secrets. This is standard practice. The members of the cojcolds will eventually demand the same from their leaders, but will it ever happen? The fact that they are tax-exempt and refusing to reveal their financials should be a crime.

As some have said, the cojcolds is beyond embarrassment. But Bednar and his wife both look like death warmed over. Bednar is a shell of a human being. And his poor wife looks like she is doing everything she can to not collapse into the fetal position. Mormonism has wrapped itself around their brains and is squeezing tighter and tighter.

It explains how dark skinned people can become white if they stop sinning, and it's full of things that never existed in ancient America, such as horses barley and wheat. How amazing is that! As increasing numbers of members lose interest in going to the temple (i.e., would rather not pay tithing) it won't be long until the brethren cook up other schemes for making money. Will they start charging admission to enter the meeting houses? Charge for parking? Chair rental fee? Pass the hat? Who knows...

The fundys stayed true to Smith's teachings, while the cojcolds c

I see this as a very slippery slope for the cojcolds. The members are no longer afraid to take them on. And it won't end with hate crime legislation. These law makers will go after their tax exempt status, claiming the church is a corporation (which the brethren freely admit) and that they are influencing the political process. Now that their own members are no longer intimidated by the man b

The whole Mormon way of life is based on a major scam, so it's no surprise that scam culture pervades the entire state of Utah and beyond. Of course many scammers think that they're really doing their "customers" a big favor by offering the scam. They're offering, you're buying, so it's all great.

Many of the comments are turning the question around -- it's the church that's having a crisis, not the members.
