I don't know if I have Aspergers or not - if I do, it's a relatively "minor" case. But I find that I have a problem with getting "context" in conversations. Sometimes I'll be looking at the context of the last five minutes; others it'll be a summary of the last five years. This causes no end of confusion for my wife. Why bring this up here? I think it's a sign of

Eternal suffering isn't the consequence of the law of justice - death is. Christ's death is the sacrifice to pay off sin. All one needs do is accept that sacrifice (along with the ?premisees? ?premises? ?premisii? - Christ *is* God; sin => death...that kind of thing). It can kind of be assumed that Christ would accept his own death as the sacrifice that pays for sin.

Could you explain to me why it's simply not true? I get that Jews don't believe it - else they'd be Messianic Jews. I get the "there is no God, therefore there is no God-of-the-Jews". I'm honestly interested in your opinion. I will probably not reply, however, lest it become "dissentive" and invite an evil spirt to the board. :) :) :)

As a Christian, I do not worship the cross. If I were of a jewlery-wearing bent, I might wear one, tho. In the same way as someone who's life was saved by a pocketwatch might keep it on him as a reminder of how lucky he is. Or, the other side of the coin, someone wearing the bullet that nearly killed him as a pendant.

(Ignoring the "there was no Jesus" skeptics...) He wrote something in the sand that caused folks to give up on the idea of stoning the adultress. Sure, He's God and all that...but writing that well would be REALLY tough to do if you don't read :)

This immediately pinged memories of "Sure, we can do that - just don't tell mom" I wouldn't be surprised if he was planning to tell you that you were good to go - but never mention anything to "corporate". a) to keep his numbers up b) to save you from yourself

Not just their reality - but their *IDENTITY* I had a friend throw a hissy-fit when I posted a facebook comment related to "Mormons being Christian." Later, she explained why she reacted so strongly - she said that church was such a part of her identity that she felt *personally* attacked.

Not to derail the topic (to reply, please copy-and-paste to a new thread!), but I'm afraid you're wrong. I used to describe it as "...can't rub two thoughts together" I think it relates to the compartmentalization techniques required to be a TBM. When one has the skills to recognize that "A contradicts B" or "B leads to C" - especially in situations were personal ethics and individual value are concerned, the self-evaluation required to recognize that "I made a

When I was in Seminary, I "read" the BoM VERY quickly (like less than a month). How? I didn't "read" it like the rest of the world "reads". I "looked at every word". Physically, the acts are the same - but mentally, there is a HUGE difference!!! I would not be surprised if your wife tries to do this. Maybe she won't - I don't know her at all. B

Shannon - One thing I would recommend is to not let the anger come between you and your son. I don't know his personality, but it's easy to imagine someone in a fragile state mis-interpreting the visible (even if subtle) anger personally. So, please be very open with him about your feelings - make SURE he knows that you're mad at her and proud of him. Encourage his doing the right thing.

Most cities have "needs-based" clinics that can help you find proper counseling. And if you can't find one in your area, you might look for AA or AlAnon (AA for the partner of the AA attendee) meetings. Not that you would particularly "belong", but there is often good advice in those meetings, from people who are learning from the school of hard knocks. NeedSomeHelpPlea
