Many years ago when I moved into my new house, several women knocked on my door. Ask if my wife was available, they would like to talk to her. I told them we were divorced, here is her new address in Idaho. Never came back,, Forum: Recovery Board
I lived in the SF area for many years. It has changed a lot over the years. Not near the total Mormon control as in the past. New companies and business are moving in. Good fishing, boating, hunting, hiking. Could do worse. Forum: Recovery Board
I think it runs in phases. when they like to scare people and a new LDS food program company show up. I have seen so much food storage thrown away, it is crazy. Forum: Recovery Board
You have to consider the source of the decimation. These people are taught from childhood THEY are the chosen ones. It is amazing how much they KNOW so much about you and find fault with you. Been through much of it myself. It is negative, controlling system. Best of luck Forum: Recovery Board
The worst thing I ran into when I lived there, job decimation. During job interviews it would always come up about your "church duties". The clannishness and us vs you was prevalent. Could write a book. Glad to be out of Utah. Forum: Recovery Board
A friends daughter is now serving a mission in Japan. She wrote me a card a month or so. She said the people were friendly and welcoming. However they didn't want to know anything about the Mormons, they just wanted to learn how to speak English, learn about America. Forum: Recovery Board
Got up, had hot tea, cleaned and rubbed 3 racks of ribs. Put them on smoker, done about noon. Friends coming over, look to have good time. Life is good,,
THANKS TO ALL THE OTHER VETS,,, Forum: Recovery Board
Over the years I was involved in some poker playing circles in Utah. Done very good, as most of them were not good players, didn't understand the game. In a period of about 6 months, bought and paid for a new pickup. Got so that I was not invited very much. Still went to Wendover and Vegas. Probably some ahead, but had lot of fun. Got up and started coffee. Fixed breakfast. Sat on front porch and ate and enjoyed the coolness and watched some deer. Not sure what the rest of the day will bring. Maybe work on my restoration project. Life is good Forum: Recovery Board
Nothing. As soon as I graduated HS, I left my small Mormon farming town, sent in my resignation notice. A few weeks later got a letter to go talk to a bishop. He tried to convince me I was making a big mistake. I told him I didn't consider myself a Mormon, walked out. Done deal. That was in the early 60's. Never regretted it. Forum: Recovery Board
I lived in Mapleton-Springville area for 20+ years. I felt like an orphan child at a family reunion. Very few people would associate with me, always sticking their nose in my business, wanting me to do work for them free. Very mormon only clannish. When I sold out and was loading up, only one person came to help. So glad to bail out of Utah. Forum: Recovery Board
when ever I ask if some of my non-Mormon family was baptized after they died. I get a brush off, "if he didn't believe, it don't mean anything". Never get a straight answer. That is very arrogant to me. Forum: Recovery Board
Don't forget you suitcases of guilt and shame. Be sure to answer to some one who is as qualified to be a bishop as any of us here,, thank you Forum: Recovery Board
When I lived in Happy Valley. Some of the missionaries would stop by. I told them "no church talk". they were welcome to kick back, watch TV, relax. I would feed them and talk hunting, fishing, working on my house. Most were polite and enjoyed the visits. However there were some that stated their "our job is to return you to the Mormons". Kicked their ass out. Forum: Recovery Board
